What does Herbalife Nutrition At Work Survey Reveal about Filipino Millennials?

While the survey conducted reveals that more Filipino millennials are engaging in regular physical activities outside work, they find it difficult to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle in the modern workplace.

PHILIPPINES, October 27, 2016 – Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey1, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle, however, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.

Millennials, or people born in between 1980 and 2000, are opting for a workplace that will encourage them to stay active, if only this will be embedded in every company culture.  About 83 percent or eight (8) in 10 millennials have agreed that they would like their company workplace to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.

With the millennial generation expected to make up 50 percent of the global workforce by 2020, ensuring the wellbeing of millennials will be important to improving workplace productivity. “There are about 35 million millennials now in the Philippines, which is about one-third of the country’s entire population. Five years from now, millennials will be dominating the labor force. While most millennials want to lead healthy lives, they face real obstacles at work in doing so,”
said Rosalio Valenzuela, Herbalife Philippines General Manager. “At Herbalife Nutrition, we provide our employees with nutrition products at work, subsidize gym memberships, hold regular wellness programs related to nutrition and well-being, and encourage participation in outdoor activities and sports competitions.

Additionally, the survey findings revealed the following:
Seven (7) out of 10 millennials strive to live healthy, active lives
However, the majority of millennials find it challenging to maintain an active lifestyle at work – eight (8) out of 10 millennials spend 6 to 13 hours at their work desk each day, and 64% of millennials get less than 30 minutes of physical activity - including standing, stretching and walking at work on an average work day.
Additionally, 64% of millennials cited the “lack of time” as the key obstacle to engaging in physical activity at work.

To provide tips on how millennials and their employers can integrate positive nutrition and life style habits at their workplaces, Herbalife Nutrition has organized a sixth Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, which builds upon the successes of the past five tours that welcomed over 100, 000  participants. Five experts from the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) are scheduled to tour 21 Asian cities from October 7 to 30, to hold a series of talks, workshops and medical symposia across the region.

“Through these efforts, we hope to equip organizations and employees with the right tools to collectively build a healthier work environment across Asia Pacific,” said Valenzuela.

Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D., a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, will be visiting Manila for the Asia Pacific Wellness Tour this October. Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D. will also be sharing expert advice on how millennials can adopt simple positive nutrition and lifestyle habits at work to improve their overall well-being in the long run.

Some of the tips to help foster a healthier millennial workforce include:

Nutrition

o Dedicate a healthy eating day each week and get colleagues involved in making healthy choices for lunch on this day.
o Boost water intake to help the body digest food, rid the body of toxins, and help deliver nutrients to the cells. Drink at least eight (8) glasses or two (2) liters of water a day.
o Have a protein shake combined with non-fat milk and healthy fruit for breakfast. With 20-30 grams of protein and low-fat contents, it can provide the body with all the nutrition it needs to power through the day.

Active Living

o Create a playlist that incorporates upbeat music and play with hourly intervals.
o Use Running Apps to keep energized and on-pace during regular runs.
o Set a goal to join running competitions to motivate self to sustain an active lifestyle.

1Herbalife’s Millennials At Work Survey was conducted in 2016, with 5,500 respondents aged 18 and above, from Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta joins the world in celebrating World Pasta Month

Pasta plays a major role in Filipinos’ lives, from being part of our daily meals to a popular choice for various events and gatherings. As October marks a special month for Filipino Pasta lovers, we join the world in celebrating the World Pasta Month worldwide.

Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta, the only Artisan Quality Italian Pasta brand in the country, has been pioneering this gastronomic celebration for three years now. This year, the National Pasta Month celebration highlights an exciting challenge among Mercato Centrale food vendors as they participate in the Doña Elena Al Dente Ultimate Pasta Challenge where they featured their originally crafted meal combinations of their specialty dishes and Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta.

All food enthusiasts were able to witness an epic and pasta-licious culinary cook-off last October 14, at the Mercato Centrale, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Pasta connoisseurs were invited to purchase a Pasta Passport for a minimal purchase of Php100. The passport served as their exclusive pass to enjoy free Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta products and appreciate the entertainment band and program hosted by the radio and TV host, Jamie Fournier.

Passport holders of the event were also able to taste and vote for the best pasta dish from the eight pasta-licious dish entries of the Ultimate Pasta Challenge participants and five beautifully designed pasta artwork from the Pasta Art competition.

“This culinary gathering highlights the universal love for pasta. We aim to bring more people to appreciate pasta and into recognizing how this dish has been part of our lives. It also allows us to present to our Filipino consumers a variety of dishes that they can enjoy Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta with. We will continue bringing them great-tasting authentic Italian pasta,” says Rachelle Chang, Product Associate.

Made with 100% durum wheat semolina, Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta is crafted with bronze dies which leave rough ridges on the pasta, helping sauces cling better thus making it more flavorful. It is available in five variants – Fusilli, Spaghetti, Fettuccine, Penne Rigate, and Lasagna.

Winner for the Pasta Art Competition                             "Colosseum"

“Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta and Fly Ace Corporation, together with our event partners, are extremely honored to initiate celebrating Pasta Month in the country. Compliance Pouch - another quality maintenance medicine from Pharex

For patients with cardiovascular disorders, adherence to medication goes a long way in ensuring that their health is in its tiptop condition. However, 60 percent of these patients are not complying with the medication as prescribed by their doctors, according to a study.

Published in the American Heart Association, the study revealed that non adherence to medication remains to be a major problem for cardiovascular patients. This often leads to poor clinical outcomes, frequent hospitalizations, and increased mortality.

To prevent the worst consequences of heart disease, experts advise that religious compliance to medication should be a top priority,  — starting from curbing the risk factors associated with the disorder.

“One of the risk factors for developing heart disease is having high blood cholesterol levels, which increases the risk of formation of plaques and atherosclerosis,” said Dr. Amado Nazal, medical director of Pharex HealthCorp. “If our patients will comply with their medication from the moment their doctors instructed them to lower their cholesterol levels, then we will be able to keep their condition from worsening.”

He added, “We believe that many patients fail to adhere to their medication because of the costs that come with it. However, medication need not be expensive. This is why at Pharex, we provide optimum health assistance to these patients through maintenance medicines that are not only of high quality but also affordable.”

Pharex Health Corp., the most prescribed brand of medicines, offers quality maintenance medicines that are designed to help curb high cholesterol levels at an affordable price.

With Pharex’s 15-day Compliance Pouch for Cholesterol, patients will be able to comply with their medication to prevent tendencies of having chronic cardiovascular diseases.

“Fat as a result of bad cholesterol can build up on the walls of your heart’s arteries, which suppresses the smooth blood circulation that’s crucial to our body system’s functions,” Nazal said.

When arteries are narrowed down or blocked, the heart will not be able to pump blood to the other parts of the body, Nazal added. “Too much cholesterol weakens our heart, therefore putting to risk our lives.”

“With the new Pharex 15-day Compliance Pouch for Cholesterol, we are assuring patients of three things: first, they can conveniently bring their medicine whenever and wherever they go as it is packed in a resealable foil pouch. Second, it’s affordable and accessible to leading drugstores nationwide. Lastly, healthcare professionals proved and tested the effectiveness of the medicine, making it a top choice for people who have high cholesterol levels,” said Nazal.

Nazal concluded, “Failure to comply with medication could cost our lives more than we realize. Now that the new Compliance Pouch for Cholesterol is here, patients will be more able to improve the quality of their lives without the added costs.”

The new Pharex Compliance Pouch is available in all leading  drugstores nationwide. For more information, please contact 4338088 (loc 820).

Snap and get cashback with Snapcart; now packed with added features!

Snapcart users can now enjoy the app more as it brings in more updates and added features to increase cashbacks, simply by snapping receipts!

Snapcart is a mobile app that gives its users cashback by simply taking a snap of grocery receipts. In turn, data gathered from receipts provide real-time shopper insights to the app’s partner brands.

To bring in more rewards to app users, Snapcart announced users may take a snap, not just of grocery – but other retail stores such as pharmacies, health and beauty stores.  This will eventually expand to all retail establishments including food & beverages, electronics, and apparels, to name a few. Rewards increase as users regularly use the app.

“We received an overwhelming response from users. We got more than a thousand downloads per day in the first weeks of the launch, surpassing our already strong results in Indonesia, but we still got questions on what receipts to upload. To take the guesswork out and make it more rewarding for users, Snapcart decided to update its features to accept all types of receipts. We also made it more engaging by introducing in-app games that could let users win even more rewards”, said Snapcart Co-founder, Mayeth Condicion.

The new game is called Snaptastic, an in-app bonus game feature where users can accumulate coins just by filling out in-app surveys, watching videos, taking selfies with their favorite products, or guessing mystery products. These coins may be used to increase users’ chances of getting cash, and other interesting surprises like shopping vouchers from Snapcart’s partner brands.

What’s in it for enterprises?
On a global scale, e-commerce giants like Amazon and eBay dominate the use of real-time data analytics. Off the shelf brands continue to rely on manually gathered and limited data on consumer preferences and behavior.

In the Philippines, the online retail market accounts for more or less 3% of the populationmajority of Filipino shoppers still prefer doing their shopping off the shelf, thus the need for a more efficient way to gather offline and online data.

Snapcart technology is able to bridge the gap in gathering online and offline data by analyzing receipts in real time, and providing meaningful insights on how to understand customers better, to grow brands, and to see what drives growth or assess effectiveness of marketing promotions and campaigns.

As Snapcart processes more variety of receipts, the app can expand data analytics services to industries beyond Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) to fashion, electronics, or food and beverages brands to name a few, providing more brands with better understanding of shoppers’ habits and preferences.

Snaptastic makes shopping more fun for users. While users have fun playing the in-app game, and increase cashbacks, brands on the other hand, gain more insight on consumer behavior through surveys, crowd-sourced images or more receipts that they submit while playing the game.

This is a breakthrough in an otherwise traditional way of conducting and answering surveys, and helps obtain even deeper insights about shoppers.
For more information, visit the Snapcart Asia website or Facebook and download the app at the Google Play Store.

My Snapcart Experience

I was one of the guests for the Snapcart Media Launch last October 12, 2016 at Max's Glorietta 3 Makati City. It was a brief discussion and introduction about the app that is now paving its way in the digital world.

As of the moment, it is only available for download on Android phones but sooner it will also be available on AppStore and also, the only way to cash out is through bank accounts but soon they will be introducing other means that are more convenient to the users of the app.

Some of the things I learned about the app is that it now accepts almost all kinds of receipts - including those used with credit cards and online shopping - and with any amount in it. Unlike before when the app has certain product requirements, it now accepts all kinds of products. Just make sure that the receipt is clear enough for verification, else it will be rejected. Receipts are valid for snap 7 days fom date of purchase.  The more receipts you submit and the more frequent you engage in the app, the bigger the chance to level up your points multiplier, which means bigger cashback. You can also answer surveys, watch videos and join in tasks to earn coins which can be used to play Snaptastic. Random prizes is at stake upon playing Snaptastic game. The first time I tried it, I got Php7.00 additional cashback. Really fantastic and fun-tastic, right? So from now on, make sure to keep all those receipts with you and snap them right away thru Snapcart. Earn and have fun with your receipts. One friendly reminder, cashbacks are updated after some days so don't throw away the receipts unless they are already verified in the app...happy snapping!!

I spent 50 coins to play Snaptastic and this is what I won...

Snapcart is Asia’s first real-time shopper engagement app where it allows brands to connect with its consumers directly. Since its launch in August 2016 in the Philippines (September 2015 in Indonesia), the app has been downloaded for over 20,000 times (500,000 in Indonesia) with very minimum marketing push. In attracting its loyal users, Snapcart offers cashbacks for users to upload their shopping receipts. Receipts’ data that Snapcart gets are compiled onto the company’s cloud-based data platform, which then used to provide clients with reports on real-time offline consumer spending and shopping habits--an inherently difficult information to source. To date, globally, Snapcart has partnered up with over 75 brands of fast-moving consumer goods. For more information, visit www.snapcart.asia

The Power of X : Digital Marketing Multiplied

Happened last October 10 - 12, 2016, at the PICC (Philippine International Convention Center) in Pasay City, the country’s very first digital congress, the “IMMAP DigiCon, The Power of X: Digital Multiplied,” hosted by the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), was as enlightening and exciting as the first event hosted by IMMAP 10 years ago.

“This groundbreaking event is like no other that IMMAP has hosted in the past—more attendees, more learning tracks and most importantly, an even bigger line-up of speakers who will talk about everything digital in the 21st Century. Collectively, they will share their thoughts on this industry that is taking the world by storm,” said Donald Lim, Chief Digital Officer of ABS-CBN and touted as the founding father of digital marketing in the country.

The digital landscape in the Philippines continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace; as such, the congress is the perfect venue for the country’s digital marketers to keep in step and to learn from digital marketing experts from all over the world, who shared their knowledge during the 3-day event.

“More industries today are now going purely digital and we are expecting this kind of transformation among many more companies in the future,” Lim added.

For the first time, through “The Power of X: Digital Multiplied,” IMMAP fused together other regular digital marketing conferences—the Mobile Marketing Summit, Digital Commerce Summit, and the IMMAP Summit—into one event, which drew around 3,000 delegates from various industries across the country.

This congress was 10 times bigger than before as IMMAP once again enjoined members of the Philippine digital marketing industry and demonstrated to them how brands can grow exponentially with the power of digital, multiplied.

Why “Power of X?” Lim explains that“X” is one of the most powerful letters in the alphabet. It has many possible usages, but it also stands for the unknown. “When it comes to digital, it’s up to you to determine what ‘X’ stands for. In many ways, digital is still misunderstood, and so it gets the ‘X’ mark or is crossed out of an advertiser’s consideration list. How will you be able to amplify your brand in the digital space? It’s for you to define your ‘X,’” he said.

The IMMAP DigiCon had 10 subject matter tracks and 10 speakers in each track, for a total of 100 speakers. The topics for the 10 tracks include “Branding and Marketing,” “Content and Distribution,” “Start-ups,” “Creatives,” “Social and Search,” “eCommerce and Payment,” “Marketing Technology,” “CRM, Data and Analytics,” “Research and Measurement,” and “Media and Ad Networks.”

The likes of Dan Neary, Vice President for Asia of Facebook, Wendy Hogan, Head of Strategy and Marketing Transformation of Oracle, and chief executives of local companies like Ernest Cu, CEO of Globe Telecom, Kenneth Yang, President and CEO of Golden Arches Development Corp., Fred Uytengsu, President and CEO of Alaska Milk Corp., were on hand to speak during the plenary sessions. Meanwhile, Sunita Kaur of Spotify, Anna Liechtenstein, Global Chief Strategy Officer of Havas Media, Paul Azzola, COO of PayMaya Philippines, Guy Hearn, Chief Innovation Officer of Omnicom Media Group, Simon Kahn, Chief Marketing Officer of Google Asia Pacific, Gwendolyn Regina, Head of Strategy and Business Development of Asia Mashable, and Sandhya Devanathan of Facebook SEA, to name a few, were among the 100 speakers who provided the learning and sharing of knowledge on digital marketing in the 21st Century.
