The modern Juan paves the way for gender equality at home with Ariel’s #JuanWash

Perhaps no era has prompted a more dramatic shift in gender norms than this one; and these changes are most evident in one of the most basic facets of daily life — chores.

Where household tasks were once viewed as “women’s work” decades prior, nowadays, a more equal division of tasks for cooking, cleaning, laundry duties, and the like in the new millennium is far from unusual.

According to the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), Filipino men are getting more and more involved in household work. In fact, statistics show that a significant increase was seen in the beginning of 2000s, with employed men allotting an average of 5 hours working on chores. This is a big jump, compared to the average of 1.87 hours from the numbers gathered on employed men from 1979.

With these findings, it’s exciting to see how this would continue to take off to new heights. A contemporary and fresh perspective on equality always starts from the core of the community, the family, and this is precisely why Ariel wants to keep the conversation going for every Juan.

As an homage to the men who show their support with the simple yet powerful act of contributing to housework, Ariel’s #JuanWash campaign seeks to inspire men to embrace one of the crucial roles in making a house a home by simply chipping in on the laundry. On September 1, 2017, Ariel will be launching the campaign online as a thank you to the Juan Washers, or the men who confidently help with the laundry thanks to Ariel Power Gel that makes washing clothes easily done in no time at all.

“For a long time, it has been common for women to have a bigger share in terms of household chores. With the rise of double-income homes and a more open-minded cultural landscape, men are now much more accepting of the idea of contributing to the housework,” explains a representative from Ariel.

Many homes have their laundry washed twice a week. If the men of the household were to set aside one day for laundry, this can mean a world of difference for the family as a whole. As a convenient reminder of how each week gives men an opportune moment to show their support, Ariel is looking to dedicate Fridays as #JuanWash days. With this slight addition to their weekly routine, the men of the household can be a New Man as an expert in laundry, all thanks to Ariel Power Gel that makes superior clean effortless. Especially formulated for better stain removal, anyone can now reach the new standard of laundry with Ariel #JuanWash.

By celebrating the men who take a stand for equality through #JuanWash, Ariel continues to break barriers after coming from the successful launch of #AhonPinay – a project in partnership with TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) that sought to provide women with more work opportunities by training them in commonly male-dominated jobs. Through #JuanWash, Ariel further emphasizes the advocacy of empowering Filipinos by showcasing the modern Juan’s role in laundry chores as a critical step towards welcoming the change to lead. Because someone who is man enough to do laundry, is someone who cares enough to let the women in their lives have the same opportunity to progress even more.

In partnership with Eat Bulaga, Ariel will be scouring through many different barangays in Metro Manila to find Juan Washers every Friday, starting on September 1. Not only is this meant to put the spotlight on individual Juan Washers, but it’s a way to show everyone how valuable their role is in further pushing equality in the family and in the community.

A lot is in store for Ariel’s #JuanWash initiative, and we hope you can also take part in spreading the word for this nationwide movement! Go ahead and be a part of the change by contributing to your share of the household chores with #JuanWash – one wash at a time.

Child-proofing the area with Soft Surfaces

When I was young our playground was used to be the sands, the ground itself or the dried hay in the rice fields. It didn't matter to us however it felt - hard, itchy, sticky - as long as we could play in it.

In school, during the Physical Education, we used to play indoor games in an area or covered court with cemented hard surfaces. Of course, trouble or accidents happens and since the surface is hard we end up with some minor injuries like bruises.

When I became a mom, I realize that I can no longer let my kids play in the same way we did when we were young. I should always think of safety, cleanliness and comfort of the place they play, study or do their day-to-day activities.

Because I want to give the best for my kids, I searched for ways on how to child-proof the places they roam around especially when they were still babies. I found out that there are products that could help me with my concern by installing rubber surfaces in their play are like the nursery wetpour playground that we built for the kids. The soft surfaces will keep them safe and comfortable at all times. I don't have to worry of them getting bumps and bruises because of the hard surfaces.

I have also discovered that Soft Sufaces is not just about playground safety but it can also be used in sports surfacing, school safety or garden DIY. Their products include rubber mulch, artificial grass, and many other types of flooring that can be used for outdoor playgrounds, pavements, and courts - almost everywhere that needs safety. Their products come in different colors which make it perfect for a nursery or any place that needs bright colors to be more noticeable and attractive.

Soft Surfaces make it easy for parents to give a better and safer place for kids where they play and learn. It also helps institutions provide better comfort for people that uses their facility. Soft Surfaces encourages learning, development and active life to everyone minus the trouble. Now I can let my kids play actively without being worried at all times.

From being an actor to being a familyman, Ian Veneracion takes on new role as advocate of a multivitamin brand

The multi-talented actor, Ian Veneracion who currently stars as the male lead in ABS-CBN’s primetime show ‘A Love to Last,’recently signed up to advocate for Conzace, the number one prescribed brand for multivitamin plus minerals by general practitioners and dermatologists in the country.

Ian, the  multifaceted celebrity, is the newest addition to the United Laboratories, Inc. (UNILAB) roster of brand ambassadors.

“It is an honor and privilege to be part of the UNILAB family for its multivitamin brand, Conzace,” proclaims Veneracion while adding, “I am grateful for this opportunity, and I strongly believe that the product can be beneficial to millions of Filipinos as it has been beneficial to me.”

According to Conzace assistant product manager Mike Jimenez, the addition of Veneracion is a perfect match for the brand. “Ian is the epitome of superior immunity and good looks,” he says.

Jimenez elaborates on the actor and the product’s connection. “Conzace’s clinically-proven ZACE formulation, an acronym for Zinc, Vitamins A, C, and E, makes it the number one multivitamin and minerals product prescribed by General Practitioners and Dermatologists. The same can be said about our brand ambassador, Ian, whose credibility allows him to ace his craft with one successful teleserye and movie after another.”

THE FACE OF CONZACE

People born in the late ‘70s would remember Veneracion as the cute and charming Jeffrey Laperal, the son of Joey de Leon in the 1982 sitcom ‘Joey and Son.’ From then on, he went to appear in more television projects while simultaneously making films that range from comedy to drama to action. Among his most recent work is the internationally acclaimed psychological thriller, ‘Bliss,’ and a Filipino independent supernatural horror film, ‘Ilawod.’

Now at 42, Veneracion has again endeared himself to today’s generation as Engineer Antonio “Anton” Noble IV, the dashing, separated with three kids guy who falls in love with another broken soul. And of course before, as Eduardo Buenavista in the 2015 remake of ‘Pangako Sa Yo,’ the role that regained Veneracion’s fame and his career to leading man stature.

And then there’s that totally different side of Veneracion that is separate from showbusiness. Apart from being an actor, he is also a painter, an athlete, a pilot, a chef, and a family man—the last being his favorite role to play.

But to be all that, Veneracion needs a multivitamin and minerals that will help him cope, not just with his busy schedule, but with the different roles that he has to play in life. “I need strong immunity as well as healthy skin and hair, I cannot afford to get sick, and look stressed—I am glad I have Conzace to give me all that and more.”

THE ZACE EFFECT

Compared to other multivitamins, Conzace has the highest levels of ZACE combined. All these elements play different roles in one’s well-being.  “This unique formulation in Conzace creates a synergistic effect that is clinically proven to help boost immunity, promote healthy skin and hair, and assist in wound healing as it speeds up skin regeneration,” says Jimenez.

Veneracion, speaking from experience, explains it better: “It’s the little things that we don’t normally notice, like for example, stronger resistance against colds and flu, better and clearer skin, shinier and healthier hair. It will do amazing things; you can do more and be more for yourself, for your family, for your work without being disrupted.

“I believe that if you are healthy inside, it just comes out. It reflects physically—in your hair and in your skin. And in the line of job that I am in, it is quite important that I don't just don’t look good but really be healthy,” Veneracion concludes.

Electric Bicycles for Children

Electric bicycles have been a popular means of moving around for adults for some time especially for physically-handicapped people who find it difficult to ride on traditional bikes. However, in recent years, electric bicycles have become a popular choice for children also. The question is – is it a safe and affordable option? Some of the pros and cons are discussed here in this article.

It is understandable why the younger generation would opt for electric bicycles instead of the standard model. It gives them the thrill to be able to speed around and tackle uphill terrain with greater ease. From the parents’ viewpoint, it is an activity that keeps the children occupied for a few hours – out of the house. It also helps the children to become more independent, they learn a new hobby and become familiar with how the bike works.

However while buying children an electric bicycle can prove a quick ride to school and back, besides any inherent safety issue, you should also take into account the price you would have to pay for this convenience. Electric bicycles do not come cheap. Most middle-class families with young children have a budget they need to stick to. If there are more than one or two kids in the family, and one electric bicycle is purchased – for sure this will lead to problems as to who gets to ride the bike.

Can parents afford this expenditure? Such an expense is generally only possible after saving up month after month at the cost of many side-lined expenses or playing at https://www.multilotto.co.uk/.

Is the thrill the children get when riding an electric bicycle worth it? Any family wishing to give their kids this somewhat expensive possession – something that is not absolutely required for their basic knowledge and development – needs to give the idea serious thought.

Mark your calendars for the 3rd Integrated Waste Management Expo and Environment Summit

On August 10 - 12, 2017, The 3rd Integrated Waste Management Expo and Environment Summit will be held at SMX Aura, Taguig City. An initiative of the DENR - Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), the Expo aims to raise the bar of environmental awareness of consumers and beef up efforts in solving the rising problem of solid waste in Metro Manila and other urban areas in provinces across the country.

The 3rd Integrated Waste Management Expo and Environment Summit is open to the public, including government agencies and non-government organizations. The Expo offers various activities like forums, talks and workshops that bear interesting topics on environmental protection, renewable energy, sustainable livelihood, and updates on consumer goods that help save the earth.

The Expo aspires to heighten a proactive awareness on issues that bear upon the environment and its ecological well-being. The ever-rising mountains of trash in our landfills, our rivers, waterways, and seas, is a serious matter of concern that has stared us in the eye for decades.

Good laws have been passed, government efforts on alleviating garbage problems in Metro Manila and major urban centers across the country have seen improvements since R.A. 9003 or the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act” was put in motion in 2000. Amazingly, seventeen years later, we are still in neck-deep sea of rubbish. Major gaps cry out to be filled because the solution lies not only on laws or government effort, but at the source of waste itself — the consumers.

The Expo hopes to boost efforts in promoting a deeper commitment among Filipinos in every household, business establishments, and institutions in achieving positive social and environmental impact. Visitors will gain invaluable information, instruction, and insight on eco-friendly solutions that is practical, cost-efficient and sustainable.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle — the global battle cry for the environment resonates. Redesigning resource life cycles so that all products are reused, imitating nature’s sustainable cycles, would mean no trash is sent to landfills and incinerators — no more air pollution, no more water contamination. Changing our consumer lifestyles and practices is the solution to making this vision possible.

We can bring about positive change if we work together as a nation — for the environment, for the country, for every Filipino. We hold the key.

The 3rd Integrated Ecological Waste Management Expo and Environment Summit is organized by DENR - Environmental Management Bureau in partnership with Department of Interior and Local Government, Metro Manila Development Authority, Philippine Information Agency, Quezon City and Taguig City.

Admission is free. For online registration, kindly visit environmentsummit.ph

Getting to know Doc Pao better

Doc Pao is one of the kindest, if not the kindest doctor that you will ever meet. A lot of doctors say that they care about their patients but trust you me when I say that Dr. Paolo Bellosillo truly, madly, deeply cares for his patients in every way of form.

We had the chance to sit down and talk to Doc Pao amidst his busy schedule and here’s what we were able to discuss.

1. With the many things you have accomplished already, what else do you wish to accomplish this remaining half of 2017?
Formulate natural therapeutics that are not ingested but applied on the skin to make people glow and feel they are great because they are who they are. To have gold on their skin because they deserve it, because they are beautiful already and have value that can be flaunted or shown. To make people ageless, whiter and glow to see their real features.  Giving them luxury made affordable is just a dream for now but hopefully a reality that will come true.

2. What has been your biggest achievement this year?
I had a married couple in their senior years who came to see me for assistance.  The wife actually had multiple strokes and the husband was in average health but stress seemed to catch up.  It would be hard to see your loved one deteriorate before you throughout the years to the extent that knowing who you are and what you are to each other seemed to need so much effort to know what was true- husband and wife.  Apparently the husband wakes up every morning to seeing his wife not knowing his name or that he was her husband.  This was sad, and this was happening for many long years.

With that in mind just a few weeks ago, after therapy the husband tells me his sadness was overwhelming because his wife seemed to forget who he was.  I sought permission given the fact we had down therapy for her brain for enhanced memory and function for some time, so I asked the wife: ” Ma’am, who is he? The she said he is Ramon Py. Then the husband smiled, but I didn’t stop, therefore I proceeded in asking “Who is he to you?”, then the wife said “He is my husband.”
They both looked at each other and smiled in complete and perfect love as I looked at them and smiled too.

3. What has been the biggest challenge in getting people to believe in your line of work?
It is when they have met other doctors who they sought for help from but actually made more harm.  They feel bad about it and think every doctor is like that. In reality, not every doctor is a docere, a teacher or born to teach with a passion or with a heart, when people see that and the approach is holistic and evidence based, views and outlooks change.

4. Who is your target client? What can you do for them?
People of all ages preventing diseases that wreak havoc in our communities such as chronic and degenerative diseases. Diabetes, Hypertension, Coronary Artery, Cardiac Insufficiency, Stroke, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s,  Chronic Kidney Disease, Cancer of all forms.

Where heart transplants or kidney transplants are needed hope in saving the said organs can still apply for natural and friendly holistic therapies can still be undertaken. People who want to achieve ageless beauty, which is disposition and holistic integrity from within to our should see me.
We hope that there will be more doctors like Doc Pao who really want what is best for the people and the patients that he sees. The world would be a healthier place if that were the case.

Doublemint picks LoveWraps winner

"A great life isn't about great huge things, it's about small things that make a difference."

Doublemint’s Sarah and Juan campaign came to a close with a winner after over a thousand Filipino participants nationwide sharing their own kilig stories through #LoveWraps.

Even select local celebrities, bloggers, and the press picked up the campaign in telling their own stories of affection to their loved ones. Numerous entries in the #LoveWraps microsite came from different parts of the Philippines, with entries showing that expressing love or affection was not limited to significant others, but also to family members and barkadas. The chosen winner of #LoveWraps was Rio Espejon from Cebu, for his creative and inspiring story. He won the grand prize, which was a trip to Boracay for two.

Creating meaningful connections is a very Filipino gesture, as seen on the participants’ entries. Going beyond the kilig factor, the #LoveWraps campaign highlights the importance of these connections and the sweet memories that come along with it. It also happens to closely follow the story and "kilig" factor of Kathniel's blockbuster movie, "Can't Help Falling in Love."

The high participation to this campaign shows that the story of Sarah and Juan is relevant to us Filipinos. Sarah and Juan both represent the common person in finding love and cherishing it with the people he/she finds important. There is importance to finding a special someone, or at least sharing something meaningful with others. Having that connection will always create a sweet and kilig feeling, just like the sweet gestures and surprises make our day. It tugs the heartstrings and delights the common Filipino, and the experience is not limited to celebrity love teams or couple influencers who exchange a cute banter or two. It can happen to anyone.

It goes without saying that it’s the little things that matter, even if it simply starts by sharing a stick of gum.

Germany's best mom-and-baby skincare brand comes to the Philippines, celebrity ambassador revealed

Filipinos are known around the world for their hospitality, warmth, and genuine love for their families. Many Filipinos want the best that their money can buy for their loved ones, especially children. This is why talk-show host and celebrity mom Camille Prats-Yambao is always on the lookout for pure, natural, high-quality and affordable products that are safe for modern Filipina moms like her, which she cheerfully shares with her audiences on TV and on the internet.

Early this year, Camille excited millions of her fans when she announced that she and her husband are expecting a daughter. Recently on her Instagram, she showed beautiful pictures from her latest photoshoot, and many complimented her healthy, glowing skin and look.

This July 26, in a special Baby Shower at Ibiza Beach Club in BGC, Camille finally unveiled her secret to achieving healthy skin during her pregnancy. Aside from a healthy diet and having a thankful and happy outlook in life, she also uses the specially formulated, organic, and natural skincare products from Sanosan.

Created by Mann & Schröder, a German company with over 60 years of experience developing high-quality skin and hair care products — Sanosan's skincare solutions are effective because they are based on two pure and natural ingredients: olive oil and hydrolyzed milk protein.

Olive oil is rich with powerful antioxidants and vitamins E, A & D, and has been used since ancient times as an effective yet gentle cleanser, moisturizer and protector of skin and hair. Milk is known to be healthy for the body, and it was also popularized by the ancient beauty Queen Cleopatra of Egypt, who was said to bathe in milk. Today, experts have found that hydrolyzed milk contains amino acids and nutrients that rejuvenate tired skin by gently removing dead skin cells, and brightening one's complexion safely and naturally.

Now, thanks to Myrna T. Yao, CEO of Richprime Global Inc. and Most Influential Filipina™ awardee, Philippine consumers can have easy access to Germany's best skincare products for mothers and their babies.

"We believe that every child deserves a happy childhood," says Myrna. "For over 30 years, we have served Filipinos who want their kids to grow up healthy, happy, and with a higher quality of life. Our customers trust us to carry products made with the highest standards, without harsh chemicals that can harm children. We've made it our mission to help today's parents gain access to high-quality products that will really improve their lives, without breaking their budget."

Myrna, a long-time champion for women's advocacies, recounts when she first discovered Sanosan from Germany. "I was impressed with their hypoallergenic, pure and natural formula. I knew this would be something that will benefit Filipina moms and their children. We introduced it last year to the local market, and already the brand is growing at a promising rate. We're very happy that Camille is partnering with us to reach more Filipinos who can see for themselves how Sanosan PH can help them achieve healthier skin, naturally and affordably."

Camille (who is beloved by millions of fans who grew up with her since her AngTV and Sarah...Ang Munting Prinsesa days) agrees wholeheartedly, "I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and it's really just what I need. During my first pregnancy, one of the most difficult things for me was battling those pesky stretch marks. Now with my second child, I’m better prepared – thanks to Sanosan’s Anti-Stretch Mark Cream. I use it at least twice a day, and I see that it's really effective. The best part is, it's more affordable than other brands in the market. I wouldn’t partner with just any brand – and I believe in Sanosan."

With her delivery date coming soon, Camille's excitement is hard to contain. “I'm so excited to meet my little girl na, so that I can start using Sanosan’s Baby Care line. I just know that bath time is going to be easier!" Camille shares enthusiastically. "Mabango sya and since it comes from all natural ingredients, I know I don’t have to worry about damaging my baby's skin. Choosing pure and natural products is my way to show her how much I love her, even before she is born."

Sanosan Baby Care, Sanosan Natural Kids, Sanosan Anti-Stretch Mark Cream, Mom-To-Be Oil and other Sanosan Mama Care products are available online at Lazada, Baby Company, Kids Company, and in leading department stores all over the Philippines.

ABOUT SANOSAN

Sanosan is part of the Mann & Schröder cosmetic company. Founded in Germany in 1951, Mann & Schröder has over 60 years of experience in the manufacturing and marketing of hair and body care products found in over 100 countries.

In 1980, they created Sanosan to provide holistic and comprehensive products with high quality, pure and organic ingredients for babies, kids and mommies.

Sanosan's Baby Care mild cleansing products are safe for daily use and do not contain any eye irritants. The milk protein has lipids that protect the skin from drying out, compensating for the dehydrating effects of hard water. This makes bath time more enjoyable for babies, and their parents.

Sanosan Mama Mom-To-Be Spray and Anti-Stretch Mark Cream are among Sanosan's most popular products. Meticulously formulated with high-quality natural, active ingredients to pamper and care for pregnant mothers, the skin tightening properties have been confirmed by a series of dermatological tests to be effective in preventing and fading stretch marks. All these without breaking the bank for expensive treatments nor staying in bed for recovery periods.

Sanosan is devoted to providing a holistic feeling of well-being for babies and pregnant mothers through specialized products that have been clinically tested to be safe and effective.
