Alden Richard's New Handwashing Music Video inspires everyone for a worry-free Christmas

It's Christmas, the happiest time of the year! It's the season to be jolly and worry-free; as Safeguard, the nation’s leading soap that stands for germ-protection; sets the tune for a healthy Christmas celebration with the newest hand-washing music video, “Five Hugas ng Krismas.”

Featuring the charming voice of local celebrity and “Pambansang Bae” Alden Richards, the music video stresses the importance of having clean hands this Yuletide season through a colorful and energetic finger-tutting choreography set to a classic Christmas melody. This is Safeguard’s creative response to an alarming discovery from the first Philippine Handwashing Index (PHI), with results showing that most Filipinos do not wash their hands regularly and diligently. PHI is a breakthrough study commissioned by Safeguard to have a closer look at the hand-washing habits of Filipinos.

The message of the music video is simple yet impactful: “Ang bawat hugas, dapat Safeguard hugas”. This means only trusting the best when it comes to germ-protection, by simply following these five non-negotiables on when to wash your hands: before mag-mano, after banyo, before kumain, after playing, and before mag-bonding.

“A joyful Christmas is a Christmas that is spent with family and friends – happy and worry-free. A lot of us take hand-washing for granted, and since is it a good way to prevent illnesses, it’s important to remind the people to continuously wash their hands the Safeguard way,” says Alden Richards.

Director Sid Maderazo and Assistant Director Manman Angsico, a veteran theater actor and vocal coach, are the masterminds behind the creative execution of the “Five Hugas ng Krismas” music video. In it, the finger-tutting choreography features five hands that represent the five points of the star – reminiscent of the Filipino Christmas parol. For the background, sliding panels and creative props help depict the different times one should remember to wash their hands, specifically during those festive moments that define a Filipino Christmas. From bonding with the family over karaoke, to digging in on the delicious spread of local rice cakes, the music video is a fun and creative way to create awareness about the value of hand-washing.

“Sometimes the simplest of ideas can be the most challenging. The intention was to shoot the scenes seamlessly with live moving backgrounds. The easy route was to use green screen, but where’s the fun in that? It was all about great team work from everyone involved, and in the goal of sharing about an advocacy worth sharing to kids and the young-at-heart alike,” shares Director Sid Maderazo.

Clean hands for every Filipino

Through the Five Hugas ng Krismas music video, Safeguard aims to address the serious problem with the poor hand-washing habits of Filipinos, which was uncovered by the first Philippine Handwashing Index. The study found that seven out of ten Filipinos claim to wash their hands with soap after using a public toilet, but only two really do. To add, only water is being used when hand-washing by 60% of women before cooking, and 40% of women before feeding their kids.

Children are the most prone to sickness, yet 66% of Filipinos have noticed or witnessed children not washing hands after using the toilet, and 40% of Filipinos do not wash their hands before touching young children.

“The results of the Philippine Handwashing Index prompted Safeguard to come up with a creative solution to keep hand-washing a top-of-mind habit in every home. Through “Five Hugas ng Krismas”, we want to work together to instill proper hand-washing habits in time of the holiday season, where Filipinos touch and are in frequent contact with relatives and friends,” explains Jia Salindong-Du, Safeguard Philippines Brand Manager.

For over five decades, Safeguard has been a dedicated hand-washing advocate, promoting proper hand-washing habits with a wide range of antibacterial soaps that provide family protection against germs for up to 24 hours.

Watch and share the Five Hugas ng Krismas music video to spread awareness about the proper handwashing habits this season of joy. Click this link for the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaExAK84IYk

Novuhair's Holiday Bash promo will make everyday "a good hair day"

A festive outfit...
A fancy gift wrapped for your “monito” or “monita”...
All is set, what’s left undone is a party season-perfect hairstyle...

The fresh out of the shower look can be seductive yet temporary. Blame it on the tropical climate, it can spoil your appearance, besides making you feel sweaty and stale. The heat and humidity brought about by extreme weather condition, likewise, dries out the locks easily and make it more fragile.

Adding damage to your delicate strands are the chemical contents of various products on hand. From shampoo to conditioner and hair treatment, down to styling goods to groom it to your liking, their harsh synthetic materials jeopardize the natural oil and luster of your mane.

Because you are what you eat, the fate of your crowning glory is on the plate. Your diet must have the correct balance of vitamins and minerals to supply hair with all that it needs to become shiny and strong. So don’t overindulge, especially this time of the year when gastronomic feasts are spread almost everywhere you go. Be careful about what you take in, thinking that it’s also what you feed your ‘do.

Even stress can wear off the beauty and health of the tress. And that’s exactly what you should avoid this Yuletide season. Never put pressure on yourself just to please everyone. Just take it easy, let your hair down and party all night long.

In this time of gratitude, NOVUHAIR makes everyday “a good hair day” for its valued patrons like you with its Christmas and Year-End Promo. Get an extra NOVUHAIR Herbal Shampoo 200 ml. worth P1,040 for FREE if you buy a NOVUHAIR 3-in-1 pack at participating WATSONS stores nationwide (DOH-FDA CCRR Permit No.: 967 s. 2017).

Packed with 19 natural ingredients—mostly standardized herbal extracts, essential oils, and co-factor nutrients—NOVUHAIR Topical Scalp Lotion does not only help prevent the hair fall malady but also aids in stimulating hair growth. NOVUHAIR helps prevent hair loss, improve overall appearance, promote nourishment and rejuvenation. It is clinically-tested and proven safe and effective.

Opt for the best with this Christmas and Year-End promo. Whether it’s a luxury gift for your loved ones, or a self-indulgent treat for you, NOVUHAIR has the perfect gift to inspire and keep you party-ready this Holiday season, while providing you with the ultimate styling result.

Co Ban Kiat Hardware stands still since 1920

Established in 1920, Co Ban Kiat Hardware Incorporated is one of the few pioneering hardware businesses in the Philippines which has withstood the test of time. It all started when the family patriarch Mr. Cobankiat opened a store in the heart of the Manila Chinatown under the name of Co Ban Kiat Hardware. Business resumed after World War II but it was not until after three years later, in 1948, that the company recovered. The new CBK building was constructed on the very same spot where it stood before the war.

Co Ban Kiat Hardware Inc. (CBKHI), also known as the “House of Improvements”, has been the forefront of home building supplies. From selling nails and iron wires as their main products, CBKHI has evolved and is now considered as one of the country’s leading suppliers of the top-of-the-line hardware materials.

Driven by excellence, CBKHI initiated the retail concept for hardware stores in the country by putting up the Hardware Workshop Store.

To cater to the growing demand for industrial and construction industries, CBKHI transformed itself by providing corporations with tangible solutions to address their primary concerns on safety and quality.

This also paved the way for the birth of Coby’s Design Center in Edsa Shangri La in 1996. This specialty store offers a wide array of products that showcase versatility and Innovativeness to suit the discriminating tastes of the modern Filipino.

In 1997, Mr. Johnny Cobankiat took the advantage in bringing a franchise of Ace Hardware USA in the country with Cobankiat Hardware as one of its suppliers. In time, CBKHI expanded its distribution channel and is now considered as one of the leading suppliers in all major retail or home improvement stores in the country.

With its nearly a century’s excellence and guided by its vision to be the largest network supplier of the biggest brands in the world in the hardware industry, CBKHI resolves to work at sourcing the best products to supply its customers anytime and every time.

AttiGO and World Vision Development Foundation (WVDF) partner for a new shopping platform

Do you know that there is a way for us to give while enjoying online shopping?

Early this year AttiGO, a new online shopping site in the country and World Vision Development Foundation (WVDF), an international children's charity, partnered to create a platform where shopping could also be giving. A weird partnership for AttiGO is the country's newest online shop while the latter's support community programs aimed at improving the lives of over 20,000 children and 16 million people in 33 provinces and 44 cities in the Philippines. An unusual pairing yet it turned to be a good one.

The partnership created a voucher the code "WorldVisio60th". This code gives shoppers discount on AttiGO products and part of the proceeds goes to WVDF. It gives opportunity to AttiGO's customers to help raise funds for a child's schooling and provide sustainable livelihood to sponsored families while shopping on the online platform. Furthermore, a customer can donate an additional amount to his or her charity of choice.

So as the saying goes, "It's better to give than to receive." For the holiday season, a part of the proceeds with the voucher code "WorldVision60th" is used, will help the WVDF raise funds for them to give Noche Buena packages to their partner communities. As they do their Christmas shopping on AttiGO, they are also helping bring the joy of Christmas to different families. You don't only get discount on your items, a reliable and fast delivery, but you also get to help support the different community programs of the World Vision.

Bring back the real meaning of the season. It is indeed better to give during the holiday season.

Use this code and get Discount on AttiGO Products and support a Noche Buena Pack for families:

Bringing Back Music to Marawi - a benefit concert that celebrated Pinoy's love for music

A unique benefit concert organized by Coca-Cola Philippines brought thousands of teens together to help rebuild Marawi. The event celebrated the Filipinos’ love for music as it empowered the youth to move as one creative force for a great endeavor.

At the Coke Studio Live: Bringing Music Back to Marawi held on December 9 at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds, many of the attendees showed their support by bringing empty Coca-Cola PET bottles for a recycling drive that would help contribute in the construction of a Little Red Schoolhouse for Marawi kids. Coca-Cola Philippines committed to build a Little Red Schoolhouse as part of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation’s (PDRF) United4Marawi campaign.

Coke Studio brings together talented OPM artists and, the Filipino youth in a one-of-a-kind benefit concert to rebuild and bring music back to Marawi.

“This is our way of showing support and solidarity with the Filipino people – to be able to contribute in the rebuilding process. Music is one of the things that threads through every person, regardless of age, religion, culture, and socio-economic bracket,” said Stephan Czypionka, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Philippines. “We are committed to help the communities that we serve, especially in times like these that we have to come together to rebuild not just the physical structures, but most importantly, the lives of the people.”

“We are committed in helping rebuild Marawi and the communities impacted by this conflict. In partnership with relevant government agencies, we in the private sector will be bringing our sustainability initiatives to the area,” said Jonah de Lumen-Pernia, Public Affairs and Communications Director of Coca-Cola Philippines. “Our 5by20 entrepreneurship programs will be provided for the spouses of soldiers deployed in Marawi, while water systems will also be installed in the communities. We’ll also build a Little Red Schoolhouse.”

Bringing music back to Marawi

It was a night filled with music and hope as Coke Studio artists including The Ransom Collective, Gab and John of Urbandub, Abra, Gracenote, Moonstar88, Autotelic, Ebe Dancel, Franco, Reese Lansangan, BP Valenzuela and Sandwich, Noel Cabangon, and Curtismith shared their voices and talents for Marawi. Their amazing performances included renditions of Christmas favorites as well as their groundbreaking collaborations.

Franco Reyes, vocalist of Franco, rocking out at the Coke Studio Benefit Concert for Marawi at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

To further involve the youth in the advocacy, Coca-Cola also selected artists from the top UAAP schools: SLTO of University of the Philippines Diliman, PAPA PETA of University of Santo Tomas, The Cohens of Ateneo de Manila University, and Matt Junasio of De La Salle University to perform an original collaboration piece. Other artists from different universities were also present to entertain the crowd in the pocket stage at the Tunebayan area.

The vocalist of UP’s STLO belts out the lines of the university bands’ special composition for the people of Marawi.

Aside from the upbeat performances, there were also several emotional moments. Coke Studio artists Noel Cabangon and Curtismith led the audience in observing a few minutes of silence as they offered a prayer for the victims of Marawi. Afterwards, they both sang the empowering lyrics of their collaboration “Payong Kaibigan”. There was also a special group performance where the Coke Studio artists all sang “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful” to inspire unity in supporting the Maranaos especially this Christmas season.

The youth donate their empty bottles to help fund the construction of a Little Red Schoolhouse for Marawi children.

During the event, attendees enjoyed exciting activities like singing along to their favorite tunes at the Coke Studio Canraoke and receiving personalized Coke bottles with their names in the labels at the Coke Jukebox. There was even a Christmas food fair and bazaar where guests feasted on good food, best paired with a refreshing drink.

Overall, it was a great night worthy of its even greater advocacy which showed just how music truly unites and inspires Filipinos to come together.

MaCEA unveils "The Road to a Revitalized City"

With Makati Commercial Estate Association's (MaCEA) vision of a greener, refreshed city, they recently unveiled the new landscapes of Legazpi Active Park and Washington Sycip Park. After seven months of reconstruction, two of the most iconic parks in the country's premier business district have been transformed into spaces where nature and art converge.

The park redevelopment is part of MaCEA’s larger commitment to its greening projects and to improve pedestrian friendliness in Makati. Vibrant and relaxing, an assortment of Philippine trees has been preserved to provide a soothing green surrounding with fresh air. These include Narra, Bagras, Mahogany, Acacia and more. Sculptures by notable Filipino visual artist Impy Pilapil add an artistic charm to the scene.

Notable words of wisdom and motivation by Washington SyCip, the business icon whom the park was named after, provide inspirations to parkgoers. Other park features include a pond with koi, jogging paths, an amphitheater, clean restrooms, and pavilions where transients and office workers can relax and destress after a hectic day. Park entrances and exits were added to provide access along natural pedestrian paths.

"The redevelopment of the Legazpi Active Park and the Washington Sycip Park is part of our bigger initiative, which is to revitalize the Makati CBD. Along with the greening projects is the commitment to enhance walkability, upgrade infrastructures and sidewalks, as well as increase security features in Makati CBD,” says Mr. David L. Balangue – President and Chairman of MaCEA.

As a primary mover of the city’s development, MaCEA is taking active steps with a set of redevelopment projects in store to keep the district resilient and relevant.

Together with the renewal of Legazpi Active Park and Washington SyCip Park, MaCEA has accomplished a long list of greening projects in order to provide its community and its guests a wider breathing space that can complement the distinct Makati vibe. Some of their recent projects included the installation of the green patios and the Amorsolo Greenwall, as well as the landscape improvements.

“A sense of community spirit in Makati is being strengthened with better venues for community events, art exhibits, and general public services such as dental and medical missions of Brgy. San Lorenzo ” adds Arch. William V. Coscolluela – Vice President and Chairman of Special Projects Committee of MaCEA.

Coke Studio brings back a unifying force to the people of Marawi

Music is a powerful unifying force. It brings people together across boundaries of geography, background, religion, and culture.  And who needs music now more than anyone but the people of Marawi?

Once again, music will be heard in the streets of Marawi City and in the hearts of Maranaos as the government and members of the private sector work hand-in-hand to rebuild the city, its communities, and homes. In support of various efforts, Coca-Cola Philippines, through Coke Studio, spearheaded a hydration drive in evacuation camps, including the Maria Cristina Evacuation Camp, Buruun Gym, Sta. Elena Evacuation Camp and Saguiaran Gym, where around 5,000 Maranaos are sheltered.

Each family received various Coca-Cola products, including three 6-liter bottles of Wilkins Distilled water, and Coca-Cola shirts, while young local musicians sang OPM hits for the crowd. Customer partner Shakey’s also provided snacks for the evacuees.

The evacuation center in Saguiaran, which has one of the biggest concentrations of Maranaos, hosted a mini-concert featuring a Coke Studio bands The Ransom Collective and Franco. They sang their own songs and distributed hydration kits to the evacuees.

Coke Studio was launched early this year and successfully changed the OPM landscape with its creative collaborations with various artists. It also served as a platform for teens and young adults to come together, drawn by their common love for music.

The Filipino youth is also coming together to help rebuild Marawi, driven by their passion for music. A benefit concert at the Mall of Asia concert grounds, and a recyclables collection drive are just some of the fund-raising initiatives to build schoolhouses through the Little Red Schoolhouse program implemented by the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines.

The construction of a school building is part of the commitment of Coca-Cola Philippines through the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation’s (PDRF) United4Marawi campaign. The Company also joined the PDRF in a three-day medical mission for the evacuees in Iligan City. Volunteer health care professionals provided check-ups, surgical procedures, and psychiatric intervention to the evacuees.

The Company also provided for the daily hydration needs of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines stationed in Mindanao.

Coke Studio staged a benefit concert for the rehabilitation of Marawi on Saturday, December 9th, at the MOA Concert Grounds. Coke Studio artists such as Abra, Gab and John of Urbandub, The Ransom Collective, Gracenote, Moonstar88, Autotelic, Ebe Dancel, Franco, Reese Lansangan, BP Valenzuela, Sandwich, Noel Cabangon, and Curtismith, joined various school bands for the benefit concert. A collection drive of PET bottles was done on site to help raise funds.

Foster your child's creativity safer with Kwik Stix and Magic Stix

I firmly believe that every child is creative. At their young age, they have a lot in mind, their brain is full of ideas waiting to be unleashed. I, as a parent, know very well that it is my responsibility to support their creative side. It's part of properly nurturing and raising my kids so that they will be better citizens of this world one day.

As much as I wanted to provide them the tools to let their creative juices flowing, I would also want to make sure of their safety of course - it's every Mom's priority when it comes to taking care of the family. I came along with a lot of crayons, paints, watercolors and the likes being sold in the market today but every product comes with cons. Some smell bad, others easily dry up, some fades easily and many other factors that instead of producing creative works, create disappointments for my kids.

Until I found KwikStix paints and MagicStix markers one day while searching for art materials that my kids will use for their projects in school. Kwik Stix Thin Stix caught my attention because it is allergen and gluten free and Magic Stix is non-toxic and has no odor. Those characteristics show that even my little boy who is only 3 years old can use the products, without me sacrificing their safety for the sake of arts and learning.

Nut oils and eggs which are common ingredients in art supplies are allergens. Gluten, on the other hand, is also another ingredient that is common to thicken art supplies that may harm those people who are gluten sensitive. Our little ones are notorious for putting anything inside their mouth and without proper examination of the ingredients our art materials are made of, we might be putting them into serious trouble.

So let me share with you how convenient, safe and fun these new-found products are.

Magic Stix packaging contains 12 non-toxic washable markers. Each marker has vented safety cap and produces bright bold colors. The markers are odorless and what makes Magic Stix different from other markers is that it doesn't easily dry out. You can leave it with the cap off for 7 days but it will not dry out. That makes Magic Stix a very practical and convenient choice. Our kids when they started to do arts and crafts are often careless and they forget to return the cap of the markers which lessen the quality of the color the markers produced. With Magic Stix they can always be careless and just let their imagination flow with their artworks.

My daughter enjoyed using the Magic Stix so much for her scrapbook - a school project. She was happy to mix and match those bright colors produced by the markers and she did not encounter any irritating smell, which made her activity easier and a lot of fun.

Kwik Stix packaging, on the other hand has 24 solid tempera paint sticks inside. It also produces bright vibrant colors on paper, posters, wood and a lot more types of surfaces. It's so easy to use as you just have to uncap, twist and paint. Unlike the traditional paint, it doesn't need a brush or some water and it dries almost instantly. It is also washable so Moms, will not worry even if it touches kids' clothes.

We tried using Kwik Stix on wood and it was so surprising because it really produced vibrant colors. Just a tip to those who will use the paint sticks on wood, make sure to use smoother wood surfaces for better quality of your work.

We also used Kwik Stix on canvass and it was so easy to use. It's mess-free and so user-friendly.

I even let my 3-year-old son use the art materials with his friends, they are safe anyway.

I must say that these are state-of-the-art products. Here in the Philippines, it is very rare that Moms will see art materials as safe and as good quality as the Kwik Stix and Magic Stix. With these innovative products, I'm sure a lot of Moms out there will have a worry-free and stress-free time for supporting their child's creativity and passion for the arts and crafts. We are now using both products during our bonding moments as we are a family who loves to be creative in a safer way at all times.

How can you leave a legacy?

"That is your legacy on this Earth when you leave this Earth: how many hearts you touched."

Everyone lives. Everyone dies. However, not everyone leaves a legacy or lives a life that will leave a legacy which is sad because when they are gone, they are easily forgotten. To not be forgotten, you need to live a life that makes a difference in the life of others … to live a life that will be remembered by many with positivity because you did something to inspire them or change their life for the better.

Doc Paolo Bellosillo knows this and believes that people need to live life the best way they possibly can and one of the ways to do this is by living a healthy life coz when you are healthy, you can do more and be more. Doc Pao is an advocate of this because he has seen many people die young or not able to do what they want with life due to health limitations. To Doc Pao, this is worse than death because you are alive but not able to live fully.

To help you out, we asked Doc Pao Bellosillo to give us not 1, not 2, not 3 but 8 tips to help you start living a life that will leave a legacy.

First, know your limits, live within it and then gauge where you can grow in increments. Do more with a passion.

In health whether spiritual, physiological or emotional and psychological, know your toxins and get rid of them. Determine your deficiencies and supplement them.

Next serve with a heart of charity.

Give with generosity.

Value life at any crossroad, and protect it, preserve it. From the foods you eat or making sure babies are born into our reality.

Live each day and moment as if it were the last day of your life and do so by creating moments with people you love or even you don't know for God and country.

Just say thank you. It means a lot and goes a long way.

Start listening and then wait for your turn to speak and arrive at a solution.

If you were in a show and God is your audience, make him proud, sing the song and make him feel goosebumps. Play that music and take away His stress. Smile at Him and smile at others too. For today it's your show so live a life of legacy.
