MNL Hiphop Festival 2018 to promote Filipino culture, arts, and environmentalism

The hip-hop music scene in the Philippines started in the 1980's. It appeared not just in English language or Tagalog but also in dialects such as Chavacano, Ilocano, and Cebuano as well. 1990's is the golden age of hip-hop in the country when it entered the mainstream with the Iconic Pinoy Rapper Francis M.

The rise of Philippine hip-hop scene happened in the millennium when Filipino hip-hop rivaled Pinoy rock's traditional popularity amongst Filipino youth. The popularity gave birth to the Philippine Hip-Hop Music Awards, which started in 2004 and held annually since then.

This 2018, a brand new scene is yet to unveil as the first hip-hop music festival in the Philippines happens on the 30th of November, 2018 at the Circuit Makati Concert Grounds.

MNL HipHop Festival 2018, the first & the grandest hiphhip-hoptival in the Philippines. From old school hiphop, underground HipHop to this generation’s hiphop culture, you can expect 30 local HipHop artists to join the inaugural music festival as a HipHop Nation. The 9th run of Good Food Tour continues its advocacy in partnership with Action Against Hunger

The event started early at 10 in the morning with an energetic opening dance number, followed by a quick ribbon cutting officiated by Puratos Philippines' General Manager, Chito Medina; Puratos Regional Director Bernard Poplimont; and other Puratos' VIP's and guests.

It was then followed by a few messages of gratitude and inspiration from the important people behind Puratos success for over 30 years. The 6 booths where participants can enjoy delicious food and drinks and not to mention, freebies; were also introduced.

There were baking demos on stage from seasoned chefs Dirk De Vriendt and Benny Vervaeck. Local chefs such as Cai Gutierrez-Ladion shared piping techniques and RV Manabat taught how to make a no-bake chocolate mousse cake.

What's a celebration without the celebrities? Melissa Ricks and Helga Krapf did a fun baking demo for Chef Dirk De Vriendt's 10 Layers of Christmas. Actor and hunk Edgar Allan Guzman entertained and brought a lot of kilig to the participants with his live performance.
