Sharp announces "We Love Philippines : Sharp for Every Juan" Campaign's Winners of Trip for 2 to Japan

The Land of the Rising - Japan; is undoubtedly included in every Pinoy's travel bucket list. The country is not just loved for its picturesque landscapes and skyscrapers; amazing tourist spots - be natural or man-made; unique and exciting culinary experience; but most of all, the place is home to one of the world's most disciplined and respectful locals.

This Christmas season, Sharp Philippines Corp. (SPC) came to a mission to make some of our fellow Pinoys dreams to come true, via the We Love Philippines: Sharp for Every Juan campaign. Every purchase of any Sharp product entitled the customer to a raffle ticket wherein six grand winners were drawn who won a Trip for 2 to Japan. The campaign aimed to give back to all the Filipino households for their unwavering support throughout these years. Aside from the Japan trip, Sharp products were also given away to other nationwide winners, which were electronically drawn during their grand raffle draw.


The awarding ceremony for the grand winners was held last Dec. 19, 2018 at the SPC Main Office. Hosted by PR and Marketing Manager Amor Golifardo, the six winners shared their initial reaction when they found out that they won the grand raffle draw.  Furthermore, they recounted how Sharp became part of their household as their most-trusted appliance brand. Lastly, all of them expressed their gratitude to Sharp and to its President Mr. Kazuo Kito for this once in a lifetime Japan experience.

Aside from media and bloggers, the event was attended by Product Planning and Management Senior Marketing Manager Mr. Arthur Aranas and his Assistant Managers Ms. Iris Negal and Mr. Ronald Rendon. Sales and Trade Marketing Senior Manager Ms. Marlene Villarino also took part during the awarding ceremony.

Thrilling Illusions on Ice this Holiday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum

The Smart Araneta Coliseum, the sports and entertainment mecca of the Philippines; is famous for hosting the country's biggest shows and important events such as concerts, sports, and pageants. This year, they are all set to create another historical event as they bring the world-renowned ice skating illusion spectacular "Magic On Ice" to Manila for the first time. The creative team behind this show has worked on some of the best shows in the world including, "Le Reve," the only Las Vegas show set in an aquatic theatre-in-the-round stage in Wynn Las Vegas Casino Resort; Cirque du Soleil's "Mystere" and "O;" the 2006 Winter Olympics Germy, Mexico Korea Ceremony; and concerts of Prince, Sting, and Madonna.

On the press conference held at the Novotel Araneta, we got to know more about the creator and cast of Magic on Ice. The Spirit of Giving is so much Alive with Shopee and its Christmas Ambassador Jose Mari Chan

Fiery Style, now Flaming in Capitol Commons

Texan and Mexican or popularly known as Tex-Mex is a fusion of Mexican and American cuisines, deriving from the culinary creations of the Tejano people living in Texas. It has spread from border states such as Texas and others in the Southwestern United States to the rest of the country as well as Canada.

In the Philippines, the Tex-Mex dishes are gaining popularity for years because of their layers of flavors - tangy, spicy, sweet and smoky. Whenever Pinoys would dine in a restaurant they will not just look for a specific taste but they would always look for something that is bursting with flavors and if they would see one Tex-Mex resto, they would definitely choose it over the others.

One of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in the metro is the fast-evolving resto called Fiery Style.


Established in 2016, Fiery Style Southwestern Flaming Grill is undeniably one of the Pinoy's most favorite resto to dine in with family and friends and even co-workers who are looking for a fine and fun place to chill out after a long day of work.

I got to join the soft opening of their Estancia Mall branch in Capitol Commons and I was surprised by the huge number of customers who dined in. I believe the patrons who came in were not just after the band and the entertainment that was provided for that day but the store ambiance and the food of course.

Their dishes are so good that each of them was created to suit the palate of the Pinoys. They might be inspired by foreign dishes but individually, each burger, steak, chicken, pork, nacho, and other dishes have the taste that every Pinoy will surely love and will crave for.

Here are the dishes that we tried:


The famous Fiery Nachos, a towering layers of crispy colorful corn chips or potato chips
topped with pieces of chicken, pork and beef, tomato salsa, guacamole, cheese and other ingredients that make up a great-tasting nacho; served in a very surprising way.


Lord of the Wings, 24 pcs of flavorful wings served in hanging skewers.


Churros is a must in every Tex-Mex resto.


Galleon of Bones a boat-shaped platter filled with beef, chicken, and pork served with their specialty sauces and side dishes.

What I love about Fiery Style apart from the taste and nice service they offer is the amazing way they serve each dish. They are all instagrammable and that adds to every diner's appetite.

Shopee wraps up a record-breaking 2018 with over 12 million orders on 12.12 Big Christmas Sale

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, wraps up a record-breaking year with its highly successful Shopee 12.12 Big Christmas Sale. On 12 December, Shopee saw over 12 million orders across the region, surpassing all past records including the recent Shopee 11.11 Big Sale.

Supported by more than 450,000 brands and merchants, Shopee recorded 48 million visits as users shopped 60 million deals across all categories. Shopee’s in-app games were also highly popular; Shopee Shake was played 46 million times throughout the campaign, while the newly launched Shopee Quiz saw 11 million participants tuning in from across the region.

Let's Spread the Power of Hugs this Christmas and Everyday

Most people underestimate the power of a hug. A hug has the ability to affect us all, and facts attest to their incredible power on how it can make us feel warm and special. Renowned family therapist Virginia Satir famously stated, "We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth."


A study from Pennsylvania State University showed increased happiness among students who were asked to give or receive genuine, warm hugs at least five times a day over the course of four weeks. Similarly, a study from Carnegie Mellon University showed that adults who hugged more often were less likely to come down with a cold.

1. The Silent Hug – Diane is a deaf and mute mother of two who works at the LINK Center for the Deaf. She tutors the deaf and teaches sign language to hearing people. 2. The Once a Year Hug – Dhorie Pineda is a Sales Agent in Dubai. Teodorico Nonong Haresco Jr : how I see him change the TATSULOK

Being a girl who grew up nearby the beach, the sea, the sand, and the sea creatures; Aklan, specifically Boracay has occupied a very special place in my heart. I had been there only once, but the place really captured me that I have always treasured every memory and experience about the island.

In the summer of 2015, we were able to witness the beauty of Boracay and the not so beautiful side of it. While I was happy to see the popular white sand of the island which was awarded as Best Island in the World in 2012 by an international travel magazine, it also saddened me to see the piles of garbage in the esteros, canals and the river.


The national government's effort to rehabilitate the island was a good move but it is still better if the initiative would come from the local government of Aklan province. They know the place better, they know very well what the place and the residents need and they are the only one who can definitely make a big impact and can change the current status of Boracay for the better.

This is the reason why I was so eager to meet some of the local officials from Aklan, I want to know who among them has the concrete plan for Boracay and the whole Aklan as well, so the bodies of water and the agricultural land as well will be used properly and will be protected for the benefit of the locals.

I was happy to meet Teodorico Haresco Jr., Aklan Representative; over a casual lunch which was organized by a friend. He is a proud Aklanon, happily married and a good father of four. He is better known as NonongHarescoof by the lone district of Aklan and now running as Congressman of the Second District.

What surprised me about Nonong is not the 60++ house measures that he has authored and co-authored while he was in Congress, but his being keen in opposing the construction of the 1.9 km bridge which will link Boracay to Caticlan. It is a 3-billion project submitted by the San Miguel Corp to the government which the company said they could finish in 2 years.


The project sounds good, who wouldn't want a developed municipality in terms of infrastructures? But have we realized how that construction would impact the lives of the less privilege and small business owners, the ferry boat operators and drivers, the small vendors at the ports, the peddlers, the tricycle drivers?

Haresco being a firm believer in the microenterprise industry has the soft heart for the less privilege, less fortunate fellows. He encourages his people to set-up their own small business ventures as a means to make their lives better. His love and concern for the small and the needy have led him to oppose the project that this giant company wants to bring to his beloved province.

Haresco's advocacy and passion for small business owners somehow touched me so deeply as I was raised by a single Nanay who was a farmer who earns a hundred peso or less per day. I definitely know how hard life is for those who are striving hard to start a small livelihood of their own.

When my mother was still alive, the likes of us - small market vendor - was not getting any support from the government both local and national. The government's focus is on the big players in the industries, the big names, the big corporations whom they expect would give more revenue to them. Now I realize, we need more NonongHaresco in the government, who would always support the small and the needy who have dreams and who work hard and smart to uplift their own life.

Thank you Nonong Haresco, I believe you are a breath of fresh air in the politics as you value the role of the people who make up the larger part of our society, the people who hold the base of the "pyramid," the likes of us with whom those at the top depend on to keep their spot.

Sabi nga sa kanta ni Bamboo "Habang may TATSULOK, at sila ang nasa tuktok; hindi matatapos itong gulo."

I am hopeful that NonongHaresco's initiative to make the lives of the poor better will serve as an inspiration to others so sooner our society will no longer be a TATSULOK ( I know that might be too impossible but I chose to be hopeful for this country) where the small and the needy are always at the bottom waiting in vain...

Eat, drink, dance, and shop galore at Makati Street Meet 2018

It’s going to be weekends full of good food, one-of-a-kind shopping, and awesome entertainment as Makati Street Meet 2018 unfolds on December 2 and December 9 at Paseo de Roxas.

Lenovo bolsters PH lineup with new AMD-powered devices

Before 2018 ends, Lenovo is refreshing its product offerings to Filipino customers with the launch of new laptops that run on AMD Ryzen processors. The release is part of the company’s objective of bringing the latest technology straight to consumers.

Based in California, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) develops computer processors and related technologies for business and consumer markets. Its main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors and graphics processors for servers, workstations and personal computers, as well as embedded systems applications. Its partnership with Lenovo allows AMD to develop processors for the company’s ever-growing consumer, commercial, and enterprise portfolio.

“AMD’s newest processors are getting a lot of praise due to their powerful performance, especially when it comes to running multiple tasks, heavy programs included. We partnered with AMD to provide Filipinos such cutting-edge technology equipped to support the ever-growing performance demands of the market,” said Lenovo Philippines Country General Manager Michael Ngan.

Just last year, AMD released its Ryzen lineup of processors with multi-core setup. With the power of two or more cores in a single chip, Ryzen delivers industry-leading performance when it comes to running intensive programs involved in digital content creation, 3D rendering, gaming and streaming, CAD work, and more.


AMD Ryzen processors also include simultaneous multithreading (SMT) wherein the processor splits each of its physical cores into virtual cores known as threads. This is done in order to increase performance and allow each core to run two instruction streams at once. SMT allows various operations to be broken down into smaller parts and have those processes carried out more efficiently.
