Ergo and Wellness Conference 2019 aims to create a productive and healthy Philippines

Ergo & Wellness Conference 2019 happened last May 17, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center SM Aura Premier Taguig City. That one-day event aimed to promote a healthier workforce and a more productive Philippines.

More than 40 brands showing their products and services participated in the event and there were 12 workshops, 7 keynotes, and 3 panels all in one day! Derek Ramsay to Play for the Batangas City-Tanduay Athletics

Actor Derek Ramsay will suit up for Batangas City-Tanduay Athletics for this season’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

This is not the first time for the television and movie personality to play basketball, as he was previously with Kettle Korn team in the now defunct Philippine Basketball League. Ramsay has also excelled in the sports of ultimate frisbee and beach football.

As an actor and host, he has appeared in numerous TV and film productions in three of the country’s top media networks. He recently signed a contract with GMA-7.

“Derek is not only a good actor, but a good basketball player as well. We are happy to have him on our team,” Batangas City-Tanduay Athletics team manager and Absolut Distillers, Inc. COO Gerry Tee said.

Ramsay has been an endorser of Tanduay since 2014. The talented actor and host has helped the World’s Number One Rum further expand its market in the Philippines and the global market.

Tee said that Ramsay will see action within the opening game of the MPBL at the Mall of Asia Arena this June 12. He will also play in their Dubai game in September.

“I love the game of basketball. Joining Team Tanduay is an honor. I always considered myself an athlete before an actor. I know there will be haters and people who will doubt me, but that’s okay. This is a challenge that I’ve decided to take on. I hope to help the team in any possible way I can,” Ramsay said.

The Batangas City-Tanduay Athletics was crowned the inaugural champions of the fastest-growing regional amateur basketball league in the country. They reached the South Division Finals in the Datu Cup before falling to eventual runner-up Davao Occidental Tigers.

“Derek will surely add more excitement in our games. With him on board, fans can expect an even stronger Batangas City-Tanduay Athletics team,” Tee said.

Ramsay joins fellow celebrities Gerald Anderson, Xian Lim, Mark Andaya, and Andre Paras in this year’s MPBL.

The first Cowboy Grill I've been to was the one in Las Piñas City wayback 2002. It was always filled with customers especially on weekends and space was not enough to accommodate the crowd. Ever since, they are offering good music and great food. Their sisig and calamares have always been my favorite.

Fast forward to 2019, when I no longer spend much time on parties and late night socializations; I realized that they still exist - with live bands, great food, and unique experience. It's the same old place where fun and party starts as it celebrates its 25th year in the business.

Throughout the years, they remain to be a stand out from the others as they stay true with their passion for music while seamlessly adapting to the everchanging demands of a competitive industry. Julie Iris Fernandez-Lim aka "Juris" was best known as the lead singer of acoustic group MYMP from 2003 to 2009.

In 2009, Juris left the band and signed with Star Music as a solo artist.

Nestlé NANKID takes families on a fun summer glamp to reshape the future’s possibilities

The future holds many opportunities and challenges; and parents can help their children navigate through these so that they can become the best version of themselves. To accompany families in their journey to the future, Nestlé NANKID, along with its ambassadors hosted the NANKID Reshape Glamp.

The NANKID Reshape Glamp was a summer event that brought together parents and children in a camp setting filled with activities that aimed at fostering an open mind, cultivating a positive attitude, and showcasing optimal nutrition-- the essentials of setting up a child’s optimal growth and development.

To ensure that the guests gear up for an exciting adventure ahead, parents and their children met with their camp masters that explained the camp rules and were given camp essentials they can use at every campsite activity.


“Fishing for Nutrition”

Parents and kids gamely went fishing for nutrition tips. Here, they learned that good nutrition, such as that provided by Nestlé NANKID, plays a major role in ensuring that an individual grows up to be healthy physically and cognitively.


“Play Mountain”

Parents and children threw a giant dice to get to the summit and finish the positivity trail. They could land on a space that makes it faster for them to reach the summit, but they could also land on a space that would force them to go back several notches. Each space had a message for the parents and kids to make them reflect on the moves they have taken. Through the game, children realize that challenges and difficulties can actually be growth opportunities.

Storytelling Sessions

Everyone gathered together for a short and interactive storytelling session. Led by a camp master, kids had to run, hop, jump, and interact with others to tell stories. This fun-filled activity showed the parents how kids easily mirror their actions and the people around them.

Parents also reflected on their aspirations for their children, where they wrote letters expressing their commitment to do their best in helping their children prepare for life’s ever-changing challenges and complexities in the years to come.

Between Maybes, a proof that there is beauty in fleeting moments

It has been the fantasy of many to let go and leave everything behind in search of something different from the noise of daily life. In Between Maybes, Black Sheep wanted to bring to life Jason Paul Laxamana's story about two people who found peace in the most unlikeliest places in each other's company.

For the first time on the big screen, Gerald Anderson is paired up with Julia Baretto in a film that's shot on location in SAGA, Japan. After his first project with Black Sheep, last year's To Love Some Buddy, filmmaker Jason aul Laxamana wanted to create a story that reflected the serenity and calm nature of the location.

In Between Maybes, Julia Baretto plays Hazel, an actress experiencing troubles in her careeer and not having control of her life. Feeling lost and wanting to escape, she books a random flight and eventually ends up in the secluded prefecture of Saga, Japan. There she finds an unexpected confidante in Louie (Gerald Anderson), who isolated himself after experiencing heartbreak from his family.

The two develop a functional rlationship. Hazel asks Louie to check on her as she's not used to being on her own. While Louie finds Hazel's company and noise amuzing, as it's a break from his simple world lacking human connection. Amidst the silence and isolation, Hazel and Louie find comfort in each other as they both needed it at that certain point in their lives. But knowing how-far apart their worlds are, they can only hold on to the belief that some encounters are special because of how fleeting they are.

Both Anderson and Barretto went into the project with such admiration for the roles that they are portraying and they both had a profound connection to their characters. Julia's recent trip to South America was a means to take a step back and recalibrate from her busy schedule while Gerald felt that isolation often feels like a good choice just to get away from his life, even if only for a while.

The two actors underwent through a series of workshops with laxamana and shot the majority of the film on location in Japan during the bloom of the Sakura trees. Although Saga is a quiet prefecture with a small population, the serene nature of the place lends another layer to the story of Hazel and Louie. A brand new version of Rico Blanco;s ht song "Your Universe" is created specifically for the film by Acel, the original singer of Moonstar88.

Heartfelt - An Artistic Celebration of Mother's Day in SM Aura Premier

Art in Aura presents Heartfelt, an art exhibit celebrating mother's love is now available for public viewing at the Ground Floor Atrium of SM Aura Premier starting May 12 to 20, 2019.

Two of the three obras by Nap Limaten from Rizal. They are all made from brass and copper. You will be amazed to see that every fold and line is very detailed in this metal artwork. Both were already sold and ready for pick up as what the green dot in the nameplate suggests.

Fifteen (15) artists explore the beauty, strength, and quiet resilience that is inherent in the art of mothering and motherhood. The works delve deeper into the experiences more than the socially imposed images of the celebrated mother. Responding to the commemoration of these women, the participating artists interpreted the contours and edges of motherhood into a visual experience which is intended to remind the audience of the complex energies of these special females that are life-altering in many ways.

A mother has symmetry in her essence - a physical and emotional imperative. The result is soft organic lines that, hopefully, point towards beauty --- yet simultaneously suggest an indirect solidity. The artists consciously created a wordless combination of vigor,  intricacies in emotions, and camaraderie that often is expressed from one woman to another.

Meet KITTY - an artwork by Ram Mallari, made from mixed materials - I can see vehicle parts, gears, nuts and bolts etc. It was already reserved last May 12 - see the orange dot.

More than an observance, Heartfelt investigates the shifting re-interpretations of motherhood as subject matter in the world of arts. This exhibit identifies the historical models of motherhood, the role of feminism, and gender discourse and its shifting notions. This is examined in relation to complex hierarchies regarding the domestic and professional sphere.

24th San Miguel Purefoods Kitchen Camp with the Mommy Bloggers and their Kids

Cooking is a very important life skill and for kids to be interested in such activity, we must involve them in food preparation. That way, they learn to cook at an early age and they are encouraged to eat more to promote good nutrition.

The Kitchen Studio of the Makati Diamond Residences became a spacious venue to this year's Kids Kitchen Camp organized by the San Miguel Pure Foods Culinary Center. In collaboration with Makari Diamond Residences, little chefs-in-the-making got their hands busy preparing 5 scrumptious yet kid-friendly recipes such as Nachos Afritada using Purefoods Chicken Afritada and Magnolia Cheddar Cheese; Pulled Pork Tacos made from Purefoods Pulled Pork BBQ Pinoy Style and Magnolia Cheezee Squeeze; Quick Meaty Spaghetti using Dari Creme, Monterey Ground Pork, Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs Jumbo and Magnolia Cheezee and Magnolia All-purpose Cream; and the classic Chicken Tinola simplified by using Magnolia 3-way Chicken Ginger-based. These recipes were enjoyed together with Magnolia Chocolait and La Pacita Oat Cookies served as snacks. The fun and talented chefs of SMPF Culinary Center under the supervision of Pamela "Chef Pam" Obieta together with MDR chefs conducted the event.

It's not just the kids who enjoyed the said activity but the parent bloggers as well. It was nice seeing the kids work in a "kitchen" at their very young age. At the end of the workshop, everyone was treated to hearty snacks which included Arroz Caldo made from Magnolia 3-way Chicken Ginger-based and Chicken Pulled Pork Pie using Magnolia Chicken and Purefoods Pulled Pork BBQ Pinoy Style.

All the kids who participated in the event were also given a certificate for completing a cooking workshop. That would be something, I am sure they will be proud of when they grow up.

Me, as a Mom has realized that most kids really love to cook, maybe because they love to eat and they are curious of what their recipe would taste like if they would be the one to prepare and make it; and with the use of SMPF products, it is now easy to introduce them into cooking.
