Caregiver from GenSan takes home Php1M from 3.3 Shopee Milyonaryo

Caregivers have been called the unsung heroes of the pandemic, and with good reason. Caregiving is one of the toughest jobs around, made even more difficult by the additional health risks COVID-19 poses.

As a caregiver, her job is never easy, but Jovie Garcia from General Santos City remains grateful for being able to keep it. She is also thankful that her husband can continue working as a tricycle driver, so they can both support their 14-year-old daughter and her ailing mother-in-law. “Buti nga po may trabaho kami nitong pandemic. Hindi naman po nai-stop,” she said.

Jovie was on duty when she won the opportunity to play 3.3 Shopee Milyonaryo, an interactive lucky draw contest on Shopee Live, last February 22. Her ward, 92-year-old Lola Maria, was right beside her, encouraging her during the game.

Despite comments from other users telling her to pick boxes labeled with other letters, Jovie chose S, believing it to be a lucky letter since her daughter’s name starts with it. “Feeling po namin and’un talaga yung isang milyon,” she said.

Sure enough, the box was opened to reveal the ₱1M jackpot prize. Jovie, who was overwhelmed to the point of tears upon winning, was only able to announce the big news to her family over the phone as she was on 24-hour duty. She looks forward to sharing the joy and excitement with her loved ones in person.

She also plans to use the prize money to buy medicines for her mother-in-law and fund a small business. “Hindi po talaga ako makapaniwala. Salamat po sa Panginoon. Maraming maraming salamat po sa Shopee family sa napalanunan kong ₱1M.”

ITDI pursues backend innovation, inaugurates MMIC

The Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) inaugurated the country’s first innovation hub on February 18, 2021.

DOST Secretary Fortunato T. Dela Peña, together with Undersecretary for R&D Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, and ITDI Director Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, will be opening to the public the Modular Multi-Industry Innovation Center (MMIC) or "InnoHub sa Pinas" located at the CED and MMIC Building at the DOST Complex in Taguig City.

The MMIC is one of several projects supported by the Science Department, through the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).

With MMIC, the Philippines is joining the ranks of Canada, Malaysia, and Mexico in setting up an Innovation Hub for advanced scale up of researches on food and nutraceutical products.

The aim is to give back to Filipinos the experience and way of work and life that is made more functional, efficient, and cost-effective because of science.

MMIC or "InnoHub sa Pinas" is the Department’s platform to innovate and meet growing industry demands. It is ITDI’s core R&D facility, which uses manufacturing by-products as raw materials, otherwise known as "backend innovation." It is equipped with modular equipment that are multi-functional. ITDI can retrofit these machines for use by different manufacturing lines, using both manual and automated processing.

These facilities, complete with handling support equipment, can be used by the local industry sectors as a venue for developing new products, product equivalents, product variances, and product reintroductions, as well as, pilot capacity production.’

And so while the country is greatly hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic, ITDI continues to pursue ways to boost industry competitiveness even at the backend.

Queen C Takes the Extra Mile to Strong Immunity

Take care of yourself, others, Catriona Gray says.

As new challenges arise, we need to keep ourselves in our best shape to face these obstacles. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray started taking the steps she needs to keep her best foot forward each day.

For Cat, putting yourself first before others does not always mean you are selfish. Sometimes, it also means that you only want to create the best version of yourself to give your best contributions to the community.

“Keeping my heart, mind, and body healthy with exercise, staying hydrated, eating healthy, and having enough sleep are some of the best ways I appreciate myself. Add in a small dose of Santé Daily-C, I can take on everyday challenges with strong immunity and fewer worries,” she said.

Cat said she can never go wrong taking extra steps with Santé Daily-C, especially when it now has a 750mg variant in vegetable capsules. The Santé Daily-C is Catriona’s go-to vitamin C supplement since it is non-acidic and gentle in the stomach during digestion. It has a pH range of 7.00 to 8.00, making it safe for daily consumption.

It gives her an extra level of protection since it contains 843.64mg of Sodium Ascorbate to help prevent and treat scurvy and vitamin C deficiency. It also provides enhanced iron absorption, collagen formation, and extra aid in speeding the wound healing process, helping her have the safeguard she needs to make the most of her days with a bright smile and the right mindset.

“Last year, the pandemic helped us realize how important it is to keep our bodies fit and our immune system strong. Santé Daily-C helped me become mentally healthy since I know to myself that I am doing my part and my best to fight off the dangers of these trying times,” said Cat.

With a healthy lifestyle and Santé Daily-C strengthening her body and immune system, she spends time with her loved ones, helps her the community, follow her passions, and simply do mundane things and hobbies energized and without worries.

Santé Daily C is just one of the many other organic health and wellness products offered by Santé. Known for its flagship, Santé Barley™, the company has developed a comprehensive selection of everyday barley-based products. They are made with organic barley grass, as certified by BioGro, New Zealand’s leading organic certification agency.
