Nothing embodies the warmth and joy of the Christmas season quite like the timeless music of Jose Mari Chan, and Repertory Philippines (REP) is set to make the holidays even brighter with the premiere of its first-ever original jukebox musical. *Going Home to Christmas – A Jose Mari Chan Musical* celebrates the nation’s favorite season by weaving together heartwarming stories, Filipino traditions, and 22 of Chan’s most cherished songs.

Running from November 29 to December 15 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza, this limited engagement promises a festive experience for theatergoers of all ages. The production, under the artistic vision of REP Artistic Director Jeremy Domingo, features new arrangements of Chan’s hits by the renowned Ejay Yatco and a script penned by Gawad Buhay awardees Luna Griño-Inocian, Robbie Guevara, and Aliw Awardee Joel Trinidad. 

A Heartwarming Celebration of Family and Tradition  

The musical centers on the journeys of various characters as they head home for the holidays, rediscovering the love and connections that make Christmas truly special. From a couple rekindling their romance on a second honeymoon to overseas Filipino workers yearning for family reunions, the narrative paints a vivid and relatable picture of Pinoy holiday traditions. Themes of love, longing, and togetherness unfold against the backdrop of iconic songs like *Christmas in Our Hearts* and *A Perfect Christmas*, alongside other beloved Jose Mari Chan classics.  

“The stories reflect the heart of the Filipino Christmas experience,” shares Domingo. “It’s a celebration of everything we hold dear about the season: family, laughter, and the enduring magic of coming home.”  

A Stellar Cast and Creative Team  

The production features a powerhouse cast led by acclaimed theater veterans Carla Guevara-Laforteza as Pat, Lorenz Martinez as Arnie, Noel Rayos as Richard, and Neomi Gonzales as Josie. The ensemble includes Floyd Tena, Mayen Bustamante-Cadd, Neo Rivera, Justine Narciso, Carla Martinez, and a talented lineup of supporting performers who bring vibrancy to each scene. Mika Espinosa and Onyl Torres round out the cast as swings, ensuring every performance delivers a polished experience.  

Behind the scenes, the creative team brings the production to life with stunning visuals and expert direction. Franco Ramos leads the choreography, Ohm David designs the set, and Hershee Tantiado crafts costumes that evoke the warmth and nostalgia of the season. The immersive experience is enhanced by GA Fallarme’s projection design, Meliton Roxas Jr.’s lighting, and Aji Manalo’s sound design. The technical expertise of Julia Pacificador, Davidson Oliveros, and Patricia Gregorio ensures a seamless production.
