On Independence Day weekend, the first ÄRT MÖD Fair 2017 will open its doors. From 10 AM - 7 PM on Friday, June 9 to Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Megatrade Hall 2, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City, people will witness and appreciate different kinds of arts of this modern day era.

First forum on the Medical Science of Coconut Oil happening on 22nd May 2017

An early Mother's Day celebration from Mayora and CalCheese


As an early Mother’s Day celebration, Mayora Philippines recently launched CalCheese, a new cheese wafer biscuit for the wais mom. Held at the City of Dreams, the event was hosted by actress and proud mother of two, Dimples Romana, who expressed her enthusiasm over the snack.

Herbalife Nutrition Study Reveals Alarming Lack of Nutrition, Hydration and Exercise Among Adults


Herbalife, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Balanced Nutrition Survey1, which focuses on shedding light on nutrition and health habits, behaviors and attitudes of consumers aged 18 and above. The survey is an element of the seventh Herbalife Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, seeking to inspire consumers to adopt balanced nutrition habits and reinforce its impact to long-term health and wellbeing. According to survey findings, 8 in 10 (78%) of Filipino consumers are eating less than half of the daily recommended serving of fruits and vegetables, 4 in 10 (41%) do not drink enough water, and more than half (59%) do not get enough exercise.

While 6 in 10 (60%) of consumers in the Philippines believe that ensuring their body gets the sufficient nutrients to function optimally was the greatest motivator to adopting a balanced diet, modern, fast-paced lifestyles make it increasingly challenging to incorporate healthy nutrition habits into daily lives.

The study revealed that 6 in 10 (57%) respondents in the Philippines found having a daily balanced nutrition approach to be challenging, citing the lack of time, money, and motivation to be the top three obstacles preventing them from having a healthier lifestyle.

Additionally, the Philippines survey findings revealed the following:
• 8 in 10 (78%) consumers claimed to consume 0 to 2 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, below the recommended 5 servings per day
• 4 in 10 (41%) consume less than the recommended 8 glasses of water/fluids per day
• Over half (59%) achieve less than 1 hour of physical activity per day, with 10% having no physical activity at all
• The top 3 motivations to adopting balanced nutrition are sufficient nutrients to function optimally (60%), to prevent health related problems and complications (51%) and to maintain ideal body weight to prevent obesity-related health problems (39%)
• The top 3 obstacles to a daily nutrition approach are lack of time (57%), lack of money (53%), and lack of motivation (45%).
• To help consumers improve their nutrition habits:
o 7 in 10 (67%) of respondents feel that having an easier access to healthier food choices would help them adopt a balanced nutrition approach.
o 4 in 10 (37%) of respondents look for like-minded people to make healthier food choices together
o 4 in 10 (42%) of respondents seek expert advice for a personalized nutrition plan

When asked about what would help them achieve their balanced nutrition and exercise goals, most of the respondents agreed that balanced nutrition and community support approach, such as that exhibited at Herbalife Independent Nutrition Clubs, would improve personal well-being in the long run.

An HPV-FREE future - is that possible?


More and more women are now being affected by the so-called HPV. Although the case is arising as time goes by, still many are not aware of it, worse some doesn't really care.

In line with the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month this May, MSD Philippines - a leading pharmaceutical company in the country -  spearheaded a timely dialogue on the disease by focusing on HPV or the human papilloma virus - the primary cause of cervical cancer.

With the theme “An HPV-Free Future,” MSD organized its own commemoration of this year’s Cervical Cancer Awareness Month at the New World Makati Hotel, where expert medical professionals and special guest speakers formed a multi-sectoral panel who discussed in an intimate setting the issues concerning this healthcare situation today.


The panelists were Dr. Ma. Cristina Crisologo, Medical Adviser for Vaccines, MSD in the Phils. Dr. May Montellano, Past President of Phil. Foundation for Vaccination and Adviser of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society of the Phils. (PIDSP) and Dr. Ricardo Manalastas (Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, College of Medicine, PGH, UP Manila.

What many people don’t know is that HPV also causes a number of other diseases and malignancies, such as genital warts, and anal, vaginal and penile cancer. Thus, it is important for the discussion to take on a wider perspective from cervical cancer alone.

Here are some valuable information that was shared during the event:

Cervical cancer, the number 2 cancer killer among Filipina women; is a cancer arising from the cervix which is due to the abnormal growth of cells that have the ability to invade or spread to other parts of the body.  Early on, typically no symptoms are visible but later symptoms may include abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, or pain during sexual intercourse.

Cervical cancer remains to be among the major concerns in the Philippine healthcare, but with great strides that have already been accomplished in terms of disease awareness and prevention through vaccination, it could be said that it is no longer as daunting as it was years ago.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection causes more than 90% of cases;(most people who have had HPV infections, however, do not develop cervical cancer). HPV types 16 and 18 are the cause of 75% of cervical cancer cases globally, while 31 and 45 are the causes of another 10%.

HPV vaccines range from 7000 to 8000 pesos per shot, that protects you from 9 HPV strains. Number of shots depends on the age of the patient.

The duration or efficacy of the vaccine is 15 years and counting. No need for booster shots.

 HPV vaccine can be given to kids as young as 10 years old.

Men are the perpetrators of HPV thus, they should take the vaccine too.


An HPV-Free Future

According to Dr. Ma. Cristina Crisologo, doctors and scientists have also been able to gain a wider perspective on the battle against cervical cancer. She said that "After years of successfully confronting cervical cancer, we now know the deeper and more important issue to focus on, and that is HPV. "

One such important message is the good news that continuous advancements in vaccine technology has led to wider coverage of HPV strains, and thus the protection against a wider range of HPV infections and cancers.

With the proper information dissemination to the public and with the joint efforts from the NGO's and the government of the country in raising awareness and prevention about the disease, an HPV-free future is possible and feasible. We can all work together to fight HPV!

RAPUNZEL SWINGS INTO ACTION WITH THE DEBUT OF "TANGLED: THE SERIES," MAY 21 ON DISNEY CHANNEL IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

Rapunzel, undeniably one of the most-loved fairy tales of all time; lets down her hair in Disney Channel’s brand new animated series “Tangled: The Series”! It's premiering this Sunday, May 21 at 11:30AM (Mal/Phil). The series is set between the stories told in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ acclaimed 2010 film “Tangled” and its short film “Tangled Ever After”. The series will see Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi reprising their roles as Rapunzel and Eugene respectively.


With a new visually vibrant animation style inspired by Rapunzel’s drawings in the original film, the show follows Rapunzel on her adventures as she acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom, and the people of Corona. Along the way, her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world lead her to realize that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can accept her royal destiny as Princess of Corona.


At the heart of the series is Rapunzel’s relationship with her friends and family. Beloved characters from the feature film accompany Rapunzel on her journey, including love interest Eugene Fitzherbert (aka Flynn Rider); her loyal chameleon sidekick, Pascal; her no-nonsense, dutiful horse, Maximus; and the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs. The series will introduce Cassandra (voiced by Eden Espinosa), a tough-as-nails lady-in-waiting who becomes Rapunzel's confidante; and builds on her relationship with her parents, King Frederic (Clancy Brown) and Queen Arianna (Julie Bowen).

Rapunzel's relatable, heartfelt and comedic stories model the importance of building and nurturing relationships, and of exploration and self-discovery. With her strength, confidence, positive disposition and creativity, she is a role model for young viewers who are learning to take on new responsibilities just as she is.


To celebrate Rapunzel’s grand return across Southeast Asia, Disney Channel presents the multi-platform character hunt Tangled Quest. From 21 May to 30 June, kids and families can take part by snapping a picture of Rapunzel, Eugene, Maximus or Pascal with the Tangled Quest insignia on Disney Channel and Disney-owned social platforms and upload it on the Tangled Quest website (www.tangledquest.com). 80 lucky winners will stand a chance to win exclusive Tangled-themed goody bags.

Allianz PNB Life launches National Youth Futsal

In cooperation with the Henry Moran Foundation and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), Allianz PNB Life will be holding the National Youth Futsal Cup on May 6, Saturday, 7am to 5pm, at the University of Asia and the Pacific.

The event will mark the beginning of the selection process for the Philippines’ participation to the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC). Allianz, the official partner of FC Bayern Munich, is host to an annual international football camp held in Munich, Germany. The camp gives teenagers (between the ages of 14-16) from across the world a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train with the FC Bayern Munich coaches. 


This is the first year Allianz PNB Life will be sponsoring five male players from the friendly tournament to the AJFC to be held this July in Bali, Indonesia. Two winners out of the five players will be given the chance to represent the Philippines in the global camp this year in Munich, Germany.
