Who wouldn't remember this iconic line from the “La Primera Contravida” of the Philippine entertainment, Cherie Gil?
Evangeline Rose Gil Eigenmann was a Filipino actress born on May 12, 1963 in the city of Manila, Philippines. She was married to Roni Rogoff - an Israeli violinist - in 1994 and got annulled in 2008. They had two children namely, Raphael and Bianca. But before her marriage, she had a child from her previous relationship with Leo Martinez, named Jay Eigenmann.
Jay is now an audio engineer based in New York City. Meanwhile, Bianca graduated from New York University in 2019 where finished Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama. She starred in an international film, 'Sensitive And In Love', which was released in 2020. Raphael, on the other hand graduated from Scarsdale Senior High School in 2016. In 2020, he graduated from New York University, and is popular on social media for his handsome features.
Cherie had been an actress since 1970 and had done more than 50 movies. She started acting on TV in 1987 and had more or less 50 appearances in different series and anthology shows. From 2006 to 2016 she also played roles in 7 different theatre plays.
Her last film was Tia Madre in 2019. It is a horror film told by a hyper-imaginative 10-year old girl named Camille, whose mother transforms into something more sinister, violent, distant, and possibly not human.
Her last appearance on TV was in Legal Wives, a 2021 Philippine television drama romance series broadcast by GMA Network, starring Dennis Trillo, Alice Dixson, Andrea Torres and Bianca Umali.
In February 2022 Cherie Gil had packed up, left the Philippines, and moved to New York. Her death came to a shock for many especially to the Filipino fans because her life has been private for the past few months. She died in New York on August 5, 2022.
