Shangri-La Plaza, a longstanding advocate for world cinema, recently hosted a special screening of the highly anticipated romantic drama "Under Parallel Skies," featuring Filipino actress Janella Salvador, at the Red Carpet Cinema on April 17, 2024.
The film, which also stars Thai actor Win Metawin and is directed by the acclaimed Filipino director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, promises to enchant audiences with its heartfelt depiction of cross-cultural relationships. This Philippine-Thailand-Hong Kong collaboration follows the journey of Thai bachelor Parin (Metawin) as he travels to Hong Kong in search of his long-lost mother. Along the way, he forges an unlikely connection with Iris (Salvador), an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) and hotel employee, who helps him navigate the complexities of love, heartbreak, and healing in a foreign land.
Shot against the vibrant backdrop of Hong Kong's iconic Kowloon City, Peng Chau, and Tai O, "Under Parallel Skies" made its world premiere at the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong in March. Following its successful debut, the film premiered nationwide in the Philippines on April 17. Produced by 28 Squared Studios and Two Infinity Entertainment, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is set to hit theaters in Singapore and Thailand in May.
