Knowledge Channel Foundation Honored by DepEd for Over 25 Years of Transforming Philippine Education

In a powerful testament to enduring collaboration and educational innovation, the Department of Education (DepEd) recently honored the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) during its prestigious Partners’ Appreciation Program. The event recognized KCFI’s unyielding commitment to advancing quality education in the Philippines and empowering youth development for more than a quarter of a century.

Anchored on the theme "Partnerships that endure. Reforms that last," the appreciation program celebrated multi-sectoral organizations that actively champion DepEd’s nationwide efforts to strengthen the country's basic education system.

Dual Honors for 25 Years of Educational Impact

During the ceremony, KCFI was presented with two major distinctions highlighting its massive footprint in the local education sector:

Certificate of Recognition: Awarded for the foundation's unwavering commitment and longstanding collaboration with DepEd since its inception.

Plaque of Appreciation: Given in recognition of KCFI's outstanding initiatives in delivering meaningful, curriculum-based, and highly accessible learning opportunities to schools and learners across the archipelago.

These accolades underscore KCFI's pivotal role as DepEd's premier digital learning partner, transforming traditional classrooms into dynamic, media-rich learning environments.
Shared Vision for the Filipino Youth

Accepting the awards on behalf of the foundation, KCFI Vice President Edric Calma expressed profound gratitude and reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to Filipino learners.

"Maraming salamat po, DepEd, sa pagpapahalaga! Tuloy-tuloy po ang paglilingkod ng KCFI para makabuluhan at sa may kalidad na pag-aaral at edukasyon ng kabataang Filipino," Calma stated, emphasizing that KCFI’s mission to serve will only grow stronger.

KCFI President and Co-Founder Rina Lopez reflected on the deep-rooted history between the two institutions, noting that systemic educational reform requires collective action.

"For more than 25 years, Knowledge Channel Foundation has been honored to work hand in hand with DepEd in reaching Filipino children, teachers, and families with quality and accessible education," Lopez said. "This recognition reminds us that meaningful change happens through partnership, shared purpose, and a deep belief in the potential of every child. We are grateful to continue this journey with DepEd in helping learners grow, dream, and thrive."
Education as a Shared Mission for Nation-Building

Education Secretary Sonny Angara commended the invaluable contributions of private sector partners, emphasizing that modern educational challenges cannot be solved by the government alone.

"Our partnership is a continuous crossing. It meets the learner in doubt, the teacher in transition, and the community in need," Secretary Angara shared. "And with each step, it changes direction. Indeed, education is a shared mission. And nation-building begins when we choose to work together."
From 1999 to the Future: The Evolution of DepEd TV Powered by Knowledge Channel

Founded in 1999, KCFI has spent over two decades developing, producing, and distributing curriculum-aligned educational video lessons and learning resources. What started as an educational television channel has evolved into a multi-platform learning ecosystem designed to bridge the educational equity gap in remote communities.

The institutionalization of DepEd TV Powered by Knowledge Channel represents a massive leap forward for blended learning in the Philippines. By broadcasting high-quality, engaging video lessons across both traditional television networks and digital spaces, the initiative ensures that students, teachers, and parents can access premium educational content anytime, anywhere—effectively expanding the horizons of the Filipino classroom.

As KCFI enters its next chapter, its alliance with DepEd remains a gold standard for public-private partnerships, proving that sustained dedication to media-based philanthropy can shape a brighter, more resilient future for the Filipino youth.
