SM and PMAP Mega Job Fair, Creating an Employment Ecosystem

Finding a job can often feel like an uphill battle. Between commuting across town to complete government clearances, updating resumes, and submitting applications into black holes online, the journey to landing a career is often exhausting. Add unpredictable tropical weather to the mix, and it’s easy to see why so many jobseekers feel overwhelmed.

However, neither heavy downpours nor rescheduled dates could dampen the spirits of hundreds of determined applicants who gathered at the SM City North EDSA Skydome for the PMAP Mega Job Fair 2026.

Co-organized by SM Job Fair and the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) in celebration of PMAP’s 70th anniversary, the two-day hiring event proved that when you bring employers, upskilling hubs, and government support together under one comfortable roof, life-changing magic happens.

Beyond Hiring: Creating an "Employability Ecosystem"

Carrying the theme "HumanITy Forward 2026: Empowering Talent in a Digital World," the event was designed to be much more than a traditional recruitment venue. Instead, organizers envisioned an all-in-one ecosystem aimed at long-term career growth.

Ghie Lara, Chairperson of PMAP’s Employability Committee, highlighted this holistic approach:

“What we have here is not just a job fair but an employability ecosystem which includes our employer partners. This year, we also have the upskilling zone and the career-coaching zone where volunteers can give guidance to our jobseekers. We are here not only to employ but also to upskill.”

By offering career guidance, resume reviews, and skills training alongside active hiring desks, the event empowered attendees to walk in as jobseekers and leave with newfound confidence—and, for many, a fresh career start.

Determination Meets Opportunity: Hired on the Spot!

For many applicants, the motivation to attend went far deeper than a routine job search. The drive to support families and secure a livelihood pushed them to show up despite bad weather.

Take Richmond Carl Bello, who arrived determined to secure a new role and walked away Hired on the Spot (HOTS) as an Administrative Staff member for Readyman.

“Pumunta po ako ngayon kasi kailangan po talaga ng work. Umulan man o bumagyo, kailangan ng trabaho,” Richmond shared proudly.

For Sweet Ehricka Toledo, who landed a role on the spot as an SM Hypermarket Cashier, having the event hosted inside a modern mall made all the difference during inclement weather:

“Hindi ako mapipigilan ng ulan sa paghahanap ng trabaho. Buti po dito sa SM ang job fair, secured po mula sa panahon at maayos ang lugar.”

Their inspiring success stories reinforce why accessible, weatherproof, and community-centered spaces matter when connecting everyday Filipinos with real opportunities.

One-Stop Career Support: Streamlining Government Services

Recognizing that pre-employment paperwork can be a major headache for new hires, the event partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to bring eGovPH digital services directly to the venue.

Jobseekers were able to process essential onboarding requirements—including TIN, Pag-IBIG, and SSS details—onsite.

Pauline Faye Agtarap, Project Development Officer II at DICT, noted:

“Happy po ako kasi natutulungan natin ang mga naghahanap ng trabaho, bawas po sa pag-asikaso nila. It's a great opportunity to have SM as a partner in promoting the programs of DICT in helping Filipino jobseekers.”

Connecting Industry Giants with Local Talent

The benefits extended both ways. Major companies—ranging from engineering firms like Dewan Architects and Engineers to utility powerhouses like Meralco—found the collaborative venue ideal for sourcing top-tier local talent.

By uniting the Quezon City Local Government Unit (LGU), PMAP, DOLE, and SM Supermalls, the Mega Job Fair effectively closed the gap between hiring needs and skilled applicants.

Bringing Career Opportunities to Your Nearby SM Mall

The PMAP Mega Job Fair is just one chapter in SM Supermalls’ broader nationwide commitment to economic empowerment. Through its ongoing job fair series across the country, SM continues to bring face-to-face interviews, career coaching, and hiring desks closer to local communities.

Whether you're a fresh graduate taking your very first step into the workforce, a seasoned professional seeking a career upgrade, or someone looking for a fresh start, your next opportunity might be right around the corner at your local SM Supermall.

Upcoming SM Job Fairs across the Philippines include multi-mall hiring legs running through August and September in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
