The heart of the celebration was an eye-catching stage designed by acclaimed Filipino visual artist and activist Leeroy New, whose work brought to life the themes of resilience and hope. Known for his powerful and futuristic installations, New’s design added depth and symbolism to the event, creating a visual anchor for the powerful messages and performances that unfolded throughout the day.
The festivities were hosted by two of the country’s most beloved transgender icons — Sassa Gurl and Jervi “KaladKaren” Wrightson. With their signature blend of humor, wit, and authenticity, the duo kept the energy high and the crowd engaged, amplifying the event’s message of pride and solidarity.
Opening the program was Congressman Luis Campos, District Representative of Makati, who delivered a heartfelt speech that resonated with sincerity. “To our vibrant and resilient LGBTQ+ community, your courage, love, and authenticity inspire us every day,” he said. Congressman Campos reminded everyone that Pride goes beyond parades and parties — it’s a reflection of the strength found in embracing one’s true identity. He concluded with a powerful statement: “Haligi kayo ng ating lungsod.” (You are the pillars of our city.)
Also in attendance was Congresswoman-elect Monique Lagdameo, Makati’s 1st District Representative, who emphasized Pride as a vehicle for real change. “It empowers people to speak up for equality, love, and inclusion,” she said. Her message aligned seamlessly with that of Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, the first transgender woman elected to the Philippine Congress, who delivered a stirring speech affirming the ongoing fight for visibility and rights. “There’s nothing wrong with loving the people we truly love — and there’s definitely nothing wrong with fighting for equal rights,” Roman declared to loud cheers from the audience.
The program soared to even greater heights with a stellar lineup of performances from some of the brightest stars in the LGBTQIA+ community. The stage lit up with the powerful vocals of the O Divas from O Bar, followed by the show-stopping Divine Divas — Brigiding, Viñas Deluxe, and Drag Race Philippines Season 1 winner Precious Paula Nicole — who each brought charisma, glamour, and pride to the crowd.
Internet sensation Taylor Sheesh — known for their viral Taylor Swift tribute performances — thrilled the audience with a high-energy set that left fans in awe. The celebration continued with musical acts from Gigi Vibes, soulful singer Jason Dhakal, the electrifying O2Men of O Bar, and beats by DJ Xtina Superstar, who brought the crowd to its feet.
Makati Pride 2025 was more than just a one-day celebration — it was a bold and beautiful affirmation of love, visibility, and the power of community. It underscored the city’s unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community not only during Pride Month but every day of the year.
As the sun set over Makati, the streets of Poblacion echoed with music, laughter, and chants of love and equality. “Spread the Love, Makati” wasn’t just a theme — it was a call to action, a commitment, and a celebration of every identity, every voice, and every heart that believes in a future where everyone can live proudly, freely, and authentically.
