Colgate-Palmolive and Shopee Philippines Offer Discounted Eco-friendly, Sustainable Toothbrushes and Toothpastes in Celebration of Earth Day

According to earth.org, the top 5 biggest environmental problems on earth includes climate change, poor governance, food waste, biodiversity loss and air and plastic pollution.

The climate crisis is accelerating at an unprecedented rate which caught us by surprise. It seems that no amount of awareness from all over the globe can immediately solve this.

Poor governance among many nations has now become an environmental problem as most policymakers fail to increase the price of activities that emit greenhouse gases or massively increase funding for green innovation to bring down the costs of low-carbon energy sources. Many governments failed to make policies to address climate crisis.

Globally, a third of the food intended for human consumption go to waste. That's around 1.3 billion tons enough to feed 3 billion people, but instead contribute to an alarming problem on food waste. Mass extinction of wildlife on Earth is accelerating as humanity is using more of the Earth’s resources than it can replenish naturally.

Air and plastic pollution is everywhere. The production of plastic worldwide has swelled to 368 million metric tons in 2019, 91% of it is not recycled and roughly 11 million tons of plastic make its way into the oceans every year, harming marine bio-diversity. Air pollution on the other hand, is the cause of death of estimated 4.2 to 7 million people worldwide every year and nine out of 10 people breathe air that contains high levels of pollutants.

These are only 5 of the major environmental problems we are facing today. Can we do something about it? There are a lot of things we can do, even if we are staying home for our safety amidst this pandemic. When shopping, let us look for eco-friendly alternatives. These products are more durable, reusable, less toxic, less resource-intensive, and safer for the environment, wildlife, and people. Plus, using them will not only help protect the planet and the health and well-being of your loved ones but also the future of our kids.

In line with the celebration of Earth Day this April 22, 2021, let us do our part by supporting sustainable products from Colgate-Palmolive on Shopee's Shop Green campaign.

Himalayan toothpaste is an anti cavity toothpaste with added Himalayan salt. Himalayan salt is more natural than table salt. Table salt is usually heavily refined and mixed with anti-caking agents to prevent clumping, such as sodium aluminosilicate or magnesium carbonate. These additives are not present in Himalayan salt. The power of Himalayan salt helps protects the gums and leaves teeth healthy white.

Turmeric toothpaste is also an anti cavity toothpaste with the added power of turmeric to protect the gums.  Curcumin, which is the main active ingredient in turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant, therefore this product removes plaque and bacteria effectively.

Recyclean toothbrushes is the new and first-ever toothbrush with a 100% recycled food grade plastic handle from Colgate. This is a very good alternative for plastic toothbrushes, indeed. Designed for deep cleaning, it is made with plant-derived bristles. It also has a compact head for better reach.

Colgate Turmeric and Himalayan Salt toothpastes are both vegan and has no added gluten and sugar. The carton and the tube are also recyclable. Meanwhile, Recyclean toothbrushes is also packed in recyclable cardboard.

These Colagate-Palmolive sustainable products can be availed at 30% off on Shopee's Shop Green campaign from April 19 to 25, 2021.
