HANDOG : An Original Filipino Musical: Exploring the Deep Significance of Giving and Self-Discovery

What does it mean to uncover our authentic selves through our connections with others?

This is the narrative of the highly anticipated original Filipino musical, "HANDOG," as it endeavors to address this profound inquiry at the iconic Metropolitan Theater in Manila City on October 14, 2023, with two heartwarming performances scheduled at 3 PM and 8 PM.

Produced by J&A Productions, a collaboration of BNI Eagles members, including Engr. Carol Rufino, IDr. Loubelie Gardiola, Mr. JC Lumba, and Mr. Erwin Reyes, "HANDOG" will recount the journeys of Gary, Paul, Amanda, Uncle Ped, Chel, Mike, Robert, and Lizette as they navigate loss, sacrifice, and the redemptive power found in embracing the acts of giving and love.

By the conclusion of the musical, the collective team behind the entire production – from the artists and project head to the BNI chapters and a diverse array of community builders – aspires to kindle BNI's seven foundational values: givers gain, cultivating relationships, lifelong learning, amalgamating tradition and innovation, fostering a positive and supportive mindset, recognizing achievements, and embracing accountability.

During a press conference organized by PMCM Events Management for "HANDOG," April Villarta-Manuud, the Overall Project Director and Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Creative Team, remarked: "Join us in forging connections that unlock our potential, nurturing 'UNWAVERING SUPPORT,' and embodying BNI's core principles."

The press conference took place at the splendid Dragon's Nest, Paperwork, Paperspace and was made possible by esteemed major sponsors such as C-Force Outsourcing, Lourel Development Corporation, Expanse Realty, and iChoose Insurance Agency. Behind the scenes, J&A Productions and the BNI Eagles Chapter conjured their magic to craft this musical masterpiece. The Handog Artistic Team, led by Director Luisito Nario, Librettist and Musical Director Barbie Dumlao, Playwright Jobelle Ramos, Orchestrator and Arranger Orly Dela Cruz, Choreographer PJ Rebullida, Lighting & Technical Director Joseph Matheu, Audio Director/Consultant Dino Dumlao, Production Director Lawyn Cruz, and Charlotte Despuez as Stage Manager, orchestrated this endeavor. Furthermore, the efficient support of Project Deputy Head, IDr. Leslie Ledesma, contributed to its realization.

The play also came to fruition thanks to the generous backing of sponsors, including 1-Pentagon Credit and Lending Corporation, ALDumao Window Treatments, Joanne Glass and Aluminum Supply, AJSL Hardware and Elevators, Basta Manibela Gilbert Garcia, and Alveo Land Corporation.

A portion of the proceeds from this grand musical spectacle will be dedicated to BNI Foundation's Business Voices.
