The movie is a Mother's Day offering from Cineko Films and to be distributed by Cinescreen. It tells the story of Carding (Gabby) and Luisa (Jodi), a married couple torn between their love for each other and issues of their respective families.
Carding's family, led by his mother and Mayor of the town, Menang (Liza Lorena), permits abusive mining companies to operate in their place affecting the agricultural lands, including the one run by Luisa's sibling, Totoy (EA Guzman).
As the couple tries to stick together amid the rift between their families, they realize the process is more complicaated than they anticipated -- Carding comes in conflict with this mother, Luisa with Totoy and her other siblings. This makes them question their decision of building their own family.
How can a man pick sides between the woman he loves and the woman he first loved? Who will a man choose between his mother and the mother of his child?
Man and Wife also marks the comeback of Gabby on the big screen after "Across the Crescent Moon" two years ago. Meanwhile for Jodi, it is her second film this year following "Second Coming" last February.
In the presscon held last Apr. 25, attended by Direk Laurice and Jodi; Jodi admitted that working with the two big personalities in the movie industry is really intimidating. Jodi, though she look under the weather because of the hoarse voice, assured everyone she is ok.
According to Laurice Guillen, the movie is the continuation of "Gulong ng Palad," a tv series which aired in 2006 - but with a modern touch and twists. The story successes when Luisa and Carding come back to the Philippines after spending years of life overseas.
