Through Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philippines (RMHC), Dr. Yang continues to champion early childhood care and development by establishing Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers in communities where access to early education remains limited. These centers provide a safe and engaging space for 90 to 100 children aged 2 to 4 every school year—offering them the chance to learn, play, and grow in an environment that nurtures curiosity, confidence, and compassion.
The newly inaugurated 52nd Bahay Bulilit in Biñan, Laguna, personally gifted by Dr. Yang to the city’s young learners, marks another meaningful milestone in this long-standing advocacy. More than a physical structure, it stands as a symbol of hope and opportunity, reflecting Dr. Yang’s belief that education is every child’s first and most powerful step toward a better life.
Each Bahay Bulilit serves as a nurturing home where learning begins and dreams are first imagined—run by dedicated teachers and volunteers who share the same mission of empowering children through education and empathy. Today, with 52 centers operating nationwide, RMHC supports the early learning journey of over 5,000 children annually, giving them the foundation to succeed in school and in life.
Located in Barangay Poblacion, the Biñan Bahay Bulilit was officially turned over to the City Government on October 24 in a ceremony led by Dr. George T. Yang, together with representatives from McDonald’s Philippines and RMHC. The turnover was graced by Mayor Angelo Alonte, Barangay Captain Lloyd Castelltort, and other local officials who pledged their continued support for the initiative.
“It takes a community to raise a child, and I’m thankful that the people and leaders of Biñan share our belief in giving more children a chance to thrive through education,” said Dr. Yang. “My hope is that this Bahay Bulilit becomes a safe and happy place where learning begins and dreams take root.”
Education experts have long emphasized the importance of early childhood years—between birth and age five—as the most critical period for a child’s development. During this stage, children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical foundations are formed, and providing quality early education, proper nutrition, health care, and a secure environment is essential.
In many communities, however, access to such opportunities remains scarce. Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers help bridge this gap by offering young learners a holistic environment that encourages creativity, cooperation, and growth.
“A strong start in life can make all the difference,” Dr. Yang added. “When we nurture children early, we help build not just brighter futures for them, but a stronger future for the country.”
The Bahay Bulilit Biñan features a dedicated learning area, a reading nook, and child-friendly hygiene facilities. It is also equipped with books, toys, and educational materials designed to spark imagination and foster foundational skills. The center will be managed by the City Social Work and Development Office (CSWDO) and will provide free early childhood education to nearly a hundred children each year.
“Dr. George Yang’s vision began with a simple belief—that every child deserves the chance to learn and dream,” shared Atty. Deng De Guzman, McDonald’s Philippines Director for Legal and RMHC Corporate Secretary. “His commitment continues to inspire the entire McDonald’s Philippines family to support RMHC in expanding Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers and bringing this vision to more communities across the country.”
The turnover celebration was filled with joy as families, teachers, and local residents joined in. Daycare students enjoyed a storytelling session with Ronald McDonald and a special McDonald’s meal, creating lasting memories that marked the beginning of their learning journey.
Through initiatives like Bahay Bulilit, Dr. Yang and RMHC reaffirm their commitment to the belief that education can transform lives—one child, one community at a time.
