DAILY, MONTHLY AND YEARLY TASK
One way to organize your schedule is to make a list of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly tasks. By doing this, you will not have to worry about a dozen things, and your mind will only be focused on the task at hand.
► DAILY TASKS
For your and your family's sake, there are some tasks that need to be done on a day to day basis in order to prevent any health hazards from coming to life.
1. Make your bed. This takes a few seconds of your time, but it makes a huge impact on the perception of how clean the bedroom looks.
2. Do the dishes. Try not to procrastinate. Nowadays, in the era of dishwashers, cleaning them has never been simpler. You could turn it into a nightly habit. Every day before you go to sleep turn on the dishwasher and empty it first thing in the morning.
3. Do the laundry. This is a daily must especially if you are living with your family. You could do this at the same time you turn on your dishwasher. So, before bedtime, let the machines do the work for you.
4. Quick wiping off of the bathroom. The kitchen and the bathroom are two of the most bacteria-friendly places in your home. You have to make sure to give your bathroom surfaces a quick wipe every single day. Using an all-purpose cleaner will do the job just fine.
5. Countertops must be clean. Each time you finish cooking, make it a habit to at least rinse those kitchen surfaces.
► WEEKLY TASKS
1. Scrubbing the bathroom. At least once a week you must dedicate some more attention to properly cleaning your bathroom. Pay attention to your toilet, good thing if you have a bidet seat on your toilet to ease with cleaning.
2. Vacuum and mop the floors. A lot of debris can be found lying around our floors that have been brought in through our shoes. Do the vacuuming first, then move on to mopping.
3. Do the dusting. However, when you do it, make sure you start from the top and move your way down to the bottom.
4. Changing the bedding should be on your weekly list. Our bodily fluids are all over the places, but they are mostly on the bedding.
5. Wipe down your kitchen appliances, including the microwave. There is a good trick for cleaning your microwave. Mix some white vinegar and water in a glass bowl, and put it in the microwave for 5 minutes (set the timer for 2 minutes, but leave the mixture inside for 3 more minutes to let the steam do its job).
► MONTHLY TASKS
1. Dust your blinds and ceiling fans. If you can, try not to postpone this task. Once in a month is just enough, but do not make it once in 6 months.
2. Clean behind and under the furniture. Again, if you wait for more than one month, you are not doing your health a favor.
3. Clean the inside of your fridge. Before you do, of course, do the purge. See what goods have expired and toss them away.
4. Do the oven. People rarely clean the inside of their oven, but you should really consider turning it into a habit. Scrub it as much as you possibly can.
5. Clean your drains. Baking soda and vinegar are a match made in heaven when it comes to cleaning your drains.
► YEARLY TASKS
1. Carpets and upholstery. At least once a year you should consider doing a deep clean of your carpets and upholstery.
2. Deep clean your windows. It would be great to clean your windows a bit more often than once a year, but this will also do.
3. Gutters. When seasons change, all kinds of things end up in our gutters. You do not want to make things complicated for yourself, so it would be smart to clear them out at least once a year (fall time would be the best time).
You can also make a 5-day schedule and you can make a list like this:
1. Monday - Kitchen.
2. Tuesday - Bathroom.
3. Wednesday - Bedroom.
4. Thursday - Living room
5. Friday - Dining room.
Always try to organize your schedule with your likings. If having a whole year sorted out is too much for you, then choosing the second option will probably suit you better.
