Celebrate Equality and Spread the Love in Makati

Mayor Abby Binay-Campos invited everyone to “Spread the Love, Makati!” on July 27, 2024. The vibrant streets of Makati Avenue and Barangay Poblacion came alive from 10 AM to 9 PM, as people gathered to celebrate diversity, equality, and inclusion in a truly unforgettable manner.

The day was filled with a multitude of exciting pocket events, drawing attendees into discussions and activities centered around important issues for inclusive development and cultural diversity. The presence of celebrity guests and live performances added to the excitement, creating an atmosphere of joy and community spirit.

The event kicked off with a series of insightful talks where speakers delved into pressing topics such as gender sensitivity, addressing discrimination, health needs of the LGBTQIA+ community, and meaningful allyship. Participants were deeply engaged, tuning in to these critical discussions that aimed to foster a more inclusive society. Workshops on drag makeup and styling, photography, and painting provided hands-on experiences that encouraged creativity and self-expression.

One of the highlights of the day was the afternoon fiesta, which brought a lively street party atmosphere to the event. After a spirited march with pride alongside LGBTQIA+ and ally organizations, attendees were treated to dynamic dance performances by the Intensity Dancers. The infectious beats of DJ sets by Moira Lang and Dignos kept everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating. Nunoy Revlon and his dancers added flair and excitement with their vogue performances, captivating the audience with their talent and energy.

As night fell, the festivities culminated in a grand concert that featured a stellar lineup of performers and guests. Drag numbers from the O Bar Queens and the House of Ding wowed the audience with their dazzling costumes and performances. Musical delights from Mark Bautista and Nicole Laurel Asensio provided a perfect soundtrack to the evening, while messages of support and solidarity from equality champions inspired everyone present.

Notable speakers such as Janlee Dungca, who spoke on SOGIESC, Benedict Bernabe, who addressed the health needs of the LGBTQIAP+ community, Chris Eugenio, who discussed Pride in Business, and Mori Rodriguez, who explored internal discrimination, provided valuable insights and perspectives.
