Acer Recognized as One of the World’s Top Companies for Women

Acer has achieved a significant milestone by being named one of the World’s Top Companies for Women in 2023, marking the second consecutive year of recognition on the prestigious Forbes list. Climbing from 291 to 259, Acer also ranked 12th in the Semiconductors, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Technology Hardware & Equipment category, showcasing its commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity.

Forbes conducted a comprehensive survey involving 70,000 women across 37 territories in collaboration with Statista. The evaluation criteria encompassed various aspects such as workplace practices, gender pay equity, handling of discrimination, and provision of equal opportunities. Acer's recognition underscores its ongoing dedication to fostering an inclusive work environment that empowers women.

In the Philippines, Acer is led by Sue Ong-Lim, who serves as the managing director, overseeing a dedicated workforce of 139 employees. Her journey with Acer began as a Sales Manager in 2009, and her ascent to the role of Managing Director this year is a testament to her leadership capabilities and dedication to the company.

As a leader, Ong-Lim identifies herself as business-driven while maintaining a personal connection with Acer’s employees, partners, and customers. She emphasizes Acer's market dominance in the Philippines, with a notable 34.7% and 39% market share of consumer and gaming notebooks, respectively. This underscores Acer's significant presence in the Filipino consumer electronics market, achieved through decades of consistent efforts in sales, marketing, and customer service, providing the company with a competitive edge.

Ong-Lim attributes her success as a leader to her visionary outlook and continuous thirst for knowledge. She firmly believes that even individuals at the pinnacle of their professions should maintain a learner's mindset, highlighting the importance of continuous learning and growth.

Regarding gender equality, Ong-Lim asserts that her gender does not hinder her leadership in a predominantly male-dominated industry. She advocates for equality and inclusivity, emphasizing that an organization's success is driven by its people, irrespective of gender.
