Independence Day, or Araw ng Kalayaan, is a cherished occasion in the Philippines, commemorating both historical and contemporary heroes who have fought for the nation's freedom. On June 12, Greenhills (GH) Mall, Tiendesitas, and Estancia will launch their Independence Day festivities, offering a memorable experience for shoppers and visitors.
Greenhills Mall
Starting at 10 am, GH Mall will initiate its celebrations with a Pagtaas ng Watawat (flag-raising ceremony) at the East Wing Atrium. This solemn event sets the tone for the day's activities, emphasizing the importance of patriotism and national pride. At noon, a spirited performance by a Marching Band will invigorate the atmosphere, bringing a sense of celebration to the mall.
From 3 pm to 6 pm, the Likhang Sining at Kalayaan presentation by Tanghalang Tula will take place, featuring Kundiman and Katutubong Sayaw. This engaging showcase will highlight various aspects of Filipino culture through music, poetry, and traditional dance, providing both entertainment and education for attendees.
One of the highlights at GH Mall is the extraordinary Philippine flag display crafted from 1,400 origami flowers, courtesy of Origami Philippines. This intricate artwork symbolizes the enduring bonds and deep-rooted friendships that characterize Filipino culture. Visitors are encouraged to take photos with the display and share them on social media to spread the spirit of Independence Day.
Tiendesitas
Tiendesitas, known for its focus on local goods and handicrafts, will celebrate Independence Day with a full day of musical performances. The festivities will kick off at 10 am with a Marching Band performance at Level 1, Food Village, which will last until 11:30 am. This lively music will set a festive mood for the day.
From 3 pm to 9 pm, Musika’t Kalayaan will take place at Level 2, Food Village, featuring Filipino tunes that celebrate the nation’s rich musical heritage. Shoppers and visitors can enjoy these performances while exploring the unique offerings of Tiendesitas, making for a culturally enriching experience.
Estancia Mall
Estancia Mall will also host a series of musical events to commemorate Independence Day. The celebration will start at 10 am and run until 7 pm, featuring the P-Pop Music Fest: Hiraya at the 2/F East Wing. This event will showcase popular P-pop songs, encouraging shoppers to sing and dance along.
Additionally, from 11 am to 12 pm, a Marching Band performance will take place on the ground floor of the East Wing, adding to the festive atmosphere and providing a lively soundtrack for the day’s activities.
